Reflective Report on Tanzania Story

This report reflects on the challenges faced by Brett Jones, the manager of a dam project in Tanzania, and the impact of external factors on the project. REFLECTIVE ESSAY
This report have the reflection of Tanzania story which determine how the Brett Jones
who is the manager of the dam project in the Tanzania is appointed as a project liaison specialist.
As we analysis that he have to face lots of challenges in completing the project of the dam due to
the people of the village as we have evaluated from this story. We have learned from this story
that there are lots of problems which is happened due to the external environments of the
Tanzania but the Jones faced. As we have discussed that culture of the organisation is also
affected due to these issues like communication problem, different culture, ineffective
leadership, only one person is handling the overall structure of the project. To complete the
project Jones organises the process of hiring and recruiting the employees from the Tanzania to
reduce the problems of unemployment and people could support their project. The main thing
that we attracted toward the story is they try to gain the support of local authorities on site of
constructing the dam. We have experienced from this story that it is the first African venture
which is held by HG which is a big power plant and make efforts on the successful completion of
project in Tanzania. We determined that this study is based on how the business of HG convened
the people of Tanzania for effective building of dams and they transfers lots of skilled and
trained managers and engineers to Tanzania for effective working in the project.
We have learned that all the responsibilities of the operation structure is depends on the
Jones such as instalment of telephones and utilities, obtaining the licence and the hiring of the
skilled and knowledgeable people in the business. From the Tanzania story we can say that for
the construction of dam there is need of the large amount of capital. The main that we
determined from the story that they to faces the problem of the communication and nepotism in
completing the project of the dams in Tanzania. We can say that as per the US laws most of
things are illegal in the story of Tanzania like the people are demanding about the greater
amounts for the services which is provided by the HG. The determination of our group is that the
organisation culture of the HG is increases the standard of living which increases the values of
the country.
We analysis that the structure of the organisation is not very good because only single
person is handling the whole task of project and it creates lots time and difficulty. The main thing
that we can say that the structure of the organisation is affected due to different culture of the
people living in the Tanzania. We have learned that every employees in the organisation helps

each other for making comfortable in the unknown atmosphere of the Tanzania (Horch, 2018).
We evaluated that the culture of organisation must be effective and efficient so that the
employees could focused in their working to achieve the goals and objectives of the business.
We understand that there is the high rate of unemployment in Tanzania and people searches the
job by the word of mouth with the help of the family member. We have learned that the
organisation worried about the long term problems which is due to unethical issues of the
business. The main thing about the organisation that we can say that they have to pay additional
amount for every activities of the HG. We learned that most of external factors like political,
cultural and social factors affects the business of the HG and the main factors which influence
As we have evaluated that there are lots of leadership issues which affects the working of
the HG because they do not have the proper and effective teams which the leader guide and
direct towards the achievements of the goals (Antonakis and Day, 2017). We can say that
effective approaches of the leader will helps improve the performance and directs the activities
of the subordinates towards the specific goals. We analysis that the leadership style are very
important for the HG helps to convince the people of the Tanzania in building the dams. Leaders
have lots of responsibilities in the business as we have understand in this story that Jones is very
responsible to manage and maintain the operating structure to make the working effective and
efficient (Bolman and Deal, 2017). We can say that the leader is the one which leads to the
successful operation of the project, task and business.
We also evaluated the problem of communication and negotiation in the Tanzania
because of the different country and different cultures so they have to faces the problem of
different language. The main barrier we can say that in the working in Tanzania is the language
barriers because of the difference in the languages creates the problem of communication
between the people of the village and the manager of the HG. When there is differences in the
languages the Steinberg does not understand the what the people of Tanzania wanted to say. We
can understand that they have to learn the native languages first for the accomplishment of the
objectives (Cao, and et.al., 2018). We can say that the process of hiring which is used by Jones is
not effective so the Steinberg does not feels good because it creates the risk of nepotism in the
business. The main point is we determined that if employees will maintain the relation with the
officials of the government which results in that they will participate in effectively and
efficiently in the process of extortion. As per we study corruption is very high in Tanzania so in

building dam the HG business faces lots of difficulty due to the corruptions (Markowitz and
Rubin, 2016). We can say that there are lots ways from which they remove the corruption from
the Tanzania like by making aware the people by sharing their personal experience.
According to the story we analysis that there is high impact of the diversity in the
working. We determined that 61% people of Tanzania are Christian and 34% people are
Muslims and will creates the problem of different cultures in Tanzania. We could say that their
style of thinking and understanding the information and facts are different because in Tanzania
there is the great diversity. The main things we concluded that most of the activities and
practices which is legal and normal in dealing of business in Tanzania but not in the organisation
of US (Baselga, and et.al., 2017). We evaluated that every people selected in the business of HG
demands for the bonus on every little services. Our conclusion is that there is the greater
diversity in the environment of the Tanzania which affects the working of the HG. As we can say
that when Jones participate in the second ceremony it will affects the image of the business of
HG and many people of the Christian and Muslim community are offended in Tanzania. We
evaluated that if the people of the Tanzania not supported well to the business of HG for building
the dam so it is the problem of great diversity in the country. But we have learned that effective
dealing with the problems of the business makers the works effective and efficient.
