Discussion Topic: Understanding the internal environment is a necessary attribute of a
modern tourism and hospitality manager
Weekly Blog I:
I strongly believe that understanding the internal environ of the hotel industry is an essential
attribute of a this modern era’s tourism and hospitality manager. As we know that internal
environmental factors are relationships, labour management, corporate image, plant and
machinery, financial resources, human resources and plans as well as firm’s internal policies
(Bhavani, 2013). The study of such internal environment factors is important for a modern
hospitality manager because internal factors totally depend upon the culture made by the
employees at the hotel level through an effective communication (Bowie et al., 2016).
On the other hand, if internal environment is not taken care appropriately then it leaves a
negative impact over the hospitality firm directly. Therefore, modern tourism and hospitality
managers can effectively understand the internal environment with the help of training and
development activities while solving all associated issues (Bowie et al., 2016). Additionally,
some major factors such as proper management, physical assists, profit and cash flow,
organizational structure and organizational culture also comes under internal environment of
modern hospitality industry. In this way, if organizational culture as well as structure will not
be studied properly then the managers will not be able to manage them efficiently in this
technological world (Bhavani, 2013). Thus, I would like to suggest that detailed study of such
internal factors must be done to understand the internal environment of the industry.
