Topic 1.
Team work
Team work is essential for the multi-disciplinary world of today. In the past this types
of working skills were not so important because most of the jobs at that point of time was
related to the manufacturing line doing one thing all day. However, with change of time the
offerings of the companies have changed so also the functionalities of the employees
changed. The ability of performing as individual together with other employees and
colleagues can lead to effective teamwork. According to Lumsden (1996), team work
facilitates the companies by using vivid comparisons and contrasts and utilizing the best
efforts matching the needs of the employees to achieve the common goals of the
organization. This is understood when I started to work in the team along with my team
members. I have found the impact of team work in the implications of innovative decision
making process. I have worked in m internship program in a manufacturing company where I
had to communicate with the customers and provide them answers of all their queries. First of
all I did not have any experience how customer service teams work and how they are
expected to deal will the customers. By working in the team for this project, I have come
across some very important factors like reasons why employers depend upon the team work
processes, the benefits of team work and some of the challenges in team working process.
I initially did not want to work in team structure because I felt this to be problematic
for personal decision making or showcasing my own personal choices and capabilities. Later
while working in team structure I understood that working in a team is essential for every
individual. This gives scope for promoting own skills and abilities in one hand and be
beneficial for the company on the other. In the team structure I have learnt to communicate
with the team members and learnt to respect the diversity and individuality. The team

members have encouraged my creativity and innovative thinking process. Through the proper
differentiation process I have gained the scope for gaining new ideas to be cultivated. I have
also pointed out that I had a trust building problems with the strangers but when started to
work in the team I learnt to develop trust building exercise.
The benefits I have come across from the team work were related to motivation, better
understanding of the work and improved efficiency. Team work I have felt to be a great
structure to enhance the learning, because the team members are from different backgrounds
whose thought processes are different. Now in the team, the process of diversity increases for
which the solution of the problems are found in an easy way. In addition to this, I have learnt
many new things from my team members. The team work facility has given me improved
efficiency. For example, the utilisation of a particular system used by the customer support
teams was not included in my training process. I have learnt from the seniors in my team for
which I did not have to think much because they guided me to overcome any type of
challenge in this internship.
Initially, I felt demotivated while working in the company and trying to feel
accustomed with the other internship mates but while I came to the floor to work in the team
environment, I cannot explain how motivated I started to feel. The collective initiatives and
process of working had motivated them to contribute my own skills in the process of
achieving the common goals and objectives of the team within the desired time limits and
eventually achieve the target of the company. The team working facilities in the internship
program had also helped me to understand the importance of workplace synergy.
The team work process has helped me to change my attitude, understanding and
thought process. All of these factors had started to work positively after I started to work in
the team scenario. This process has shown me how to be more social in the communication
