INTRODUCTION
In a person’s life, academic skills are regarded as the basic skills, knowledge and habits that
an individual gain in an educational setting. These skills could be time-management,
communication, listening skills which are vital to succeed and mastery in subjects or concepts in
the academy (Galli, 2020). Whereas, employability skills are the skills that are transferable in
nature and a person learns to gain a desirable job or position in an organization. These skills can
be motivation skills, problem-solving skills, leadership skills, creativity and much more. This is a
reflective report which covers Gibbs model of reflection to reflect the experience acquired by
doing task 1 and 2. It will also cover a PDP to develop and improve key skills or abilities.
TASK
Gibbs Reflective Model
In 1988, Gibbs model of reflection was identified by Graham Gibbs to offer structure to
learning from experiences. This model enables a person to examine their learning experiences
while providing its cyclic nature lends itself mainly well to repeated experiences, letting the
individual to plan and learn from things that either went well or not. This model contains six
stages which are discussed below:
Description: My teachers and mentors provide me and other students a group
assignment. The group involved five members and each member were granted with
certain task and responsibility so that we all could reach the ultimate results in the
classroom. I decided to play the role of mentor as I could understand the task better and
lead other members effectively. The main reason to attend the module is to develop
digital skills in an educational setting so were introduced about different digital tools that
can be used by us for the collaborative learning. We were needed to analyse the modern
tools that could make collaboration easier in a student’s life. We were also introduced
about the Microsoft Office 365 (Guangzhi, Liangang and Zhengmao, 2019). It provides
fluency, along with comprehension tester in making collaboration at UWTSD. Therefore,
by taking all the above consideration each member was tasked with certain responsibility
such as who will make presentation, who will speak publically to present the work, who
will conduct research on the chosen topic and much more.

Feelings: I have realised that attending the project provided me better growth
opportunities that might lead me to get a desirable job in the company. I was happy to
participate in the group work as I got many opportunities to develop random academic
and employability skills which are important as a professional person. Dividing the task
was a smart choice as it leads better results and marks for all of members. Leading the
task made me frustrated and angry as sometimes members do not listen my orders and
they do according to their way and understanding. I have also realised that I had little
motivation to influence others and to do my work in the assignment. Sometimes,
members in the group reach late at work due to which I got annoying issues and that
affected all members’ working as well. Otherwise, overall experience of learning and
group working was good and I learned several new things that might support me future.
Evaluation: It is evaluated that all the members delivered high quality work for the given
task and meet deadlines as well. It helped all of us to earn good grades in the assignment
while doing something interesting in learning. The negative aspect is that some members
were not listening my perspectives and follow my orders that created issues as well, but
with motivation skill I could be able to influence the team members and made them to
work professionally and ethically. It is also evaluated that digital skills will further help
in gaining the desired position in the organization as it is vital to employer as well due to
the adoption and need of digital tools.
Analysis: It is analysed that the reason why the overall group task went well was because
each work had been divided between all the members as per their skills, knowledge and
abilities so that they could work accordingly. It created strengths on work and was also
helpful in attaining good grades in assignment (Hu and et.al., 2020). I have also found
that working in a group was quite interesting to me as found different strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats within me. The task aim that is we have learned
about digital skills and might be able to work on advanced equips and tools in the
academy or organization as well. It was also effective to use communication tools so that
team members could get to know what they are expecting for the assignment. We have
also conducted a proper research on the use of digital tools in order to make collaboration
among students. Being a team leader, I also used motivation tools and techniques that
could work to influence team members. I used feedback, appreciation, trophies and much

more to motivate people in my team. I also tried to be frank and transparent with my team
members so that could know about their deficiency and power of doing any task.
Moreover, it could also be said that the task could also be improved by having good
team-management skills. I have seen that I am lack at problem solving skills so it is vital
to me to grow in such area as well, as there were many conflicts increased among team
members.
Conclusion: By seeing all the phases, it is concluded that doing group activity supported
me to grow several skills, abilities and knowledge (Huang and et.al., 2021). It helped me
to grow digital skills that would help me to get my desirable job in the organization.
Through group activity, I was also able to understand my strong and weak areas, along
with opportunities and threats in the way of success. Both positive and negative
experiences of learning have been attained while doing assignment. Furthermore, I will
try my best to involve in such assignment in future as well. Overall, I understood that we
need to challenge and push ourselves to do something new and exciting so that we can
learn and enhance our capabilities.
Action Plan: In future, I will try to seek more opportunities to engage in group activities
as I learn several new things from other team members as well. In order to lead my team,
I will also learn new skills and techniques from other leaders. I will make sure to observe
them so that I can understand how they behave with members while influencing diverse
people to attain goals of team (Wu and et.al., 2019). Also, managing time and meet
deadlines is one of the important aspects in learning so I will also try to improve it. Self-
motivation is also important in leading and directing people so this area is also identified
to be enhanced. Hence, I will ask my tutors and teachers to help me in growing such
areas so that I can develop personally and professionally.
