Employees are the key persons of any business, it is very essential that they have positive
behaviour towards the company. Success and failure of the firm is complete depends upon the
attitude of workers. Relationship shared between employees can support in making people
positive towards the entity, it will help to make hem comfortable so they will be able to put their
best efforts for increasing the performance of the workplace. Present report is based on Hilton
Hotel. It is the leading brand and operating globally. Assignment will discuss the unitary and
pluralistic frames (Frederiksen, 2015). It will focus on collective bargaining and negotiation
process of the cited firm. In addition to this, report will discuss the influences of EU on industrial
democracy.
TASK 1
1.1
It is very important to have strong relationship between employees and employers.
Unitary and pluralistic are two main approaches which are related with the employee
relationship. These concepts define the thinking, values, attitude of employer towards its staff
members.
Unitary approaches
Many big organizations follow this approach, in these employees get order from their
supervisors. Mangers make effective control over their staff members. Higher authorities have
dominating behaviour towards their workers and rule over them. Managers make effective
policies and regulations which are compulsory for the staff members to follow. They can not
break the rules, they have to follow direction of their managers. There is commercial relationship
between employees and employers (Goyal, 2015) . As rules supports in enhancing the working
efficiency of the workforce which support them in their growth. Unitary approach assists in
accomplishing the goals of the company as all staff members put their best efforts for attaining
the goal of the firm.
Pluralist approach
It is the concept in which managers of the company make healthy working environment
in which every one can feel conformable and happy. They concentrate more on healthy
relationship between them. Managers involve them in decision making process, people give their

valuable suggestion , it encourages them to perform, better in the workplace. In this workers can
wok according to their norms and style, no one bound them to do certain tasks. It build
relationship between staff members and they share their feeling with each other effectively. It
supports to reduce conflicts in the workplace to great extent (Mohammadi and et.al, 2014).
Pluralistic approach is follows by the cited firm. HR manager provides them flexible
environment and higher authorities give power to employees so that they can take their decision.

of the company. Hilton hotel treat them as assets of the enterprise so provide them healthy
environment so that they can share heir feeling with each other and perform their duties without
any fear (Nouri and Parker, 2013) .
1.2
Trade unions are the front face of employees, they represent face of the workers. If any
issue occur in the workplace related to the rights of staff members then this union fight for the
same and protect rights of workers. In Hilton hotel employer and trade union both have same
power, they cannot influence the decision of each other. The unit work for building relation
between employees and employers. Trade federal work under the legal guidelines, their concern
is for the employees that they get equal opportunity in the workplace (Frangi and Routh, 2014).
Changes in trade union affect the employee relationship in Hilton hotel. Several changes are as
following which can take place any time:
Amendments in the current legislation: Federation has to follow all the legal regulation of
government. If authorities make any amendments then it is their responsibility to follow. For
instance if government increases the working hours then union members cannot say anything,
they will have to make people understand about it. It can create demotivation among them thus,
their relationship may get affected (Chadha and Sharma, 2016).
Distribution of power: To run business smoothly, it is very important that union and
company both have equal power, imbalance in distribution of authorities may harm the
relationship between employees. If there is high power of federation then union members will try
to influence the decision of the top management. In this case Hilton hotel will not be able to
accomplish its objective. But if there is equal distribution then both will respect each other’s
decision and cooperate each other for the betterment of the enterprise. As trade union is the front

2016). They will accept offers of each other and will give positive concern for resolving the
