Project management is the growing field that is used in several types of enterprises.
Being either entrepreneurs or company executives, everyone requires to deal with their daily
responsibilities to manage their business. It is important to use dedicated project managers
towards the project that is undertaken in the present study (Konanahalli, O. Oyedele and Ebohon,
2014). In this context, present report is based on the Wastson PLC which is British Leisure
company that make provisions and operations for private health and fitness clubs. For gaining
insight knowledge of the company, it covers skills and competencies which are required for
project manager to work in significant manner. Furthermore, it includes leadership and
administration to manage life cycle of the project.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE
Skills and competencies required by the project manager
Mangers need to have competitive skills of leadership and management qualities in
several areas to bring effective results and assess behaviour of others. It will help to accomplish
desired results through developing fitness facility, swimming pool, etc. in new branch (Andersen,
Samset and Welde, 2016). In other words, competencies referes in the quality which assists to
make effective results to manager with their skills. Wastson PLC require ability to make
functions and operations within the leadership team. It assist to the chosen business to manage
consistent competency model. Following skills and competencies required by project manager:
Supervising other: Managing other people can be challenge for the new project manager.
This is because, it is not sure that project manager of Wastson PLC has full experience of
management. Training of new managers requires on what to do or what not to do. Therefore,
issues related with private health and fitness club can be minimized.
Resolution of conflict: At workplace there are many situations exist in which conflict take
place. Therefore, it is essential to manage conflicts at chosen business because it could impact
the relationship among people who work on project (Wu, Ramachandran and Krishnan, 2014). It
could create major impact on the organisational culture and productivity of Wastson PLC to
establish new fitness club and other things.
Intelligence of emotions: It can be develop within the capacity which make people aware
and express their emotions (Fox and Grösser, 2015). It also handles interpersonal relationship

judiciously and empathetically. Thus, skill and competency are required for learning and
marking professional maturity in Wastson PLC.
Skills of communication: This skill need to managers to make good written and verbal
communication with their employees. In addition to this, needs to be developed in the
communication processed to assess relevant information in the selected organisation. This is
because, at chosen workplace these skills help to reduce issues and problems in significant way.
Manage performance: Further, project managers are also required to effectively manage
their employees, to understand their basic performance (DeMarco and Lister, 2013). To bring
successful results, project manager of Wastson PLC requires setting of clear expectations for
new fitness club and monitor employee goals. They also need to give reward for outstanding
performance at job with innovative qualities.

objectives, scope risks, issues, budget and time-scale. It essentially communicated to several

work as a leader. This ability needed for proper communication with people at different
levels. It is the most important skill for manager in Wastson PLC and team members to

results. This is because, leader must have ability to effectively negotiate and use
persuasion that is necessary for successful results in team. Effective communication
support in individual and team achievement.
 Integrity: It is one of the greatest thing which require in leaders to remember his or her
action. Ethical practices assists to commit with good leadership demand that helps to
make standards, behaviour, etc. In the Wastson PLC, integrity comes from leadership to

following responsibilities:

this way, administering the project budget assists to monitor performance quality
reviews. As results, in Wastson PLC project administrator can easily establish and
maintain documentation in library.
Beside this, controlling is another important part to address issues and problem of
Wastson PLC to enhance effective results. In this aspect, project administrator plays a vital role
to accomplish business objectives and goals for establishing new area of operations (Wu,
Ramachandran and Krishnan, 2014). However, controlling also assists to measure results that
can be categories for new health club.

project management develops in systematic way. It includes several activities which need to be
performed to establish new area of operations in health club. Furthermore, it summarized about
project manager skills and competencies which requires perform activities in new business unit.
Moreover, it articulated about process of project management which includes several phases for
developing performances in several areas. At last, it discussed about leadership which need to be
performed in Wastson PLC for its new branch and operations.
