Chapter 1: Introduction
Nokia has been one of the leading mobile companies in the market. Nokia has been exploring
its products to more than 130 countries all over the world. In spite of being having a large
network of business all over the world, NOKIA has faced a downfall in the market. There have
been loopholes in the operational management of the company (Ciesielska, 2018). The
technological advancement of other companies including Apple and Samsung have captured the
market. Nokia was unable to cope up with the challenge with Apple. Android platform was a
popular OS for mobiles at that time. However, Nokia tried to act differently and started investing
in Microsoft operating system. This has been a wrong decision for the company as its loose
customers in the market. During these times, Android phones have started capturing market.
Nokia has been losing its brand value in the market as these companies have gain competitive
advantages in the market. Operational functionalities of the company has been failing to maintain
its standards in the market (Burgelman, 2018). There has been weak decisions made by the
operational management of the company that has led to downfall of company in the market.
Therefore, this research has focused on identifying issues that were related to the downfall of big
company Nokia in market. The operational behavior of the Nokia has been poor in the context of
requirement of the market. The company fails in understanding need and requirement of the
customers in the market. This has been main reason of downfall of the company in the market.
This research aims at performing a qualitative analysis on situation of Nokia in the market. It
aims in identifying limitations in performance of business of the company and mitigate them
accordingly. Following are objectives of study:
