INTRODUCTION
Background of study
Training and development is any attempt to make improvement in present or future
performance of employees through enhancing ability of staff members to perform by learning. At
workplace, importance of the training and development given developing work environment
complexity, advancement in the technology and change in company (Al-Emadi, Schwabenland
and Wei, 2015). Training and development assists in assure that employees possess skills and
knowledge so that they can perform well. ASDA is British supermarket retailer and founded in
year 1949. It is supermarket chain and provides many services consisting mobile phone provider
and financial services. Employee retention is an ability of company to sustain staff members. It
helps in develop the positive impact on long time sustainability of employees. Training and
development enhance the skills and motivate employees which help them to retain at workplace
for long period of time.
Aim and Objectives
Aim of study is “To identify the importance of training and development on employee
retention in ASDA.”
Objectives are given below:
To understand concept of training and development in an organisation.

Rationale of study
Present study will help in understand about importance of training and development
programs. This will enable them to structure training and development to them effective in
context of improving workforce efficiency and lead to reduction in employee turnover. Through
