P1 RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Background to the topic
Equality and diversity plays the crucial role in terms to bring competitive advancement
within enterprise (Butterby and Collins, 2019). On the other hand, diversity defined as range of
cultural, generational and ethical difference that exist within workplace. Henceforth, equality and
diversity is term that is relevant for all workplace and this leads to enhance brand recognition
(Equality & Diversity in the Workplace, 2018.).
The present research proposal is based on topic as to undertake the investigation that
leads to mitigate the workplace discrimination. Thus, report is based on business activity as
Tesco, It is British multinational groceries retailer that engaged in supermarket chain.
Research aims and objectives
Aim- To investigate the strategies that minimise workplace discrimination. A study on Tesco.
Objectives-
To identify the effectiveness of strategies to minimise to workplace discrimination.
To determine the challenges within organisation face to overcome workplace
discrimination.
To analyse the types of strategies followed within workplace.
Research question
What are the effectiveness of strategies that used to minimise workplace discrimination?
How to determine the challenges organisation face to overcome workplace
discrimination.
Reason for choosing the research project
The present research is based on topic “to investigate the ways that aids to mitigate
workplace discrimination. . In addition to this, one of effective ways to promote equality and
diversity within enterprise is to ensure that the organisational leaders serve as role models and
they plays crucial role in terms to undertake business activities smoothly.
Therefore, the main purpose of research is to identify the effectiveness of the strategies
used to minimise workplace discrimination. Also, it will help in providing insight about different
kinds of strategies implemented within Tesco.
Key literature sources

As per the view of Syed and Ozbilgin, (2019) stated the enterprise needs to build the
strategies that can aids to prevent the workplace discrimination. By providing training
opportunities and building effective firm policies can be effective way to reduce the
discrimination. Also, the enterprise needs to develop the clear and comprehensive policy that
address the unlawful discrimination within entity.
Equality and diversity can be termed out as the significant drivers that aids to undertake
the change in terms to current and future needs of business. As per the view of Dennissen,
Benschopand van den Brink (2019) stated that the main purpose behind promoting equality is to
eliminate unlawful discrimination, to advance the equal opportunities and to promote the better
and good relationship with employees.
In contrary to Syed and Ozbilgin, (2019) stated that diversified employees to the
workplace who comes from different backgrounds can bring the fresh idea that makes the
organisation more effective. Therefore, diversified workforce leads to have good understanding
of the customer market and this also assist to facilitate effective organisational awareness to the
needs to consumers. Providing equal opportunities leads to undertake the effective business
practices that bring competitive advancement within the enterprise

P2 Research methodologies
This is defined as specific process and technical advancement that works as to undertake
identification, investigation, selection and analysing the information with help of effective
method of chosen topic. It is termed out as the methodological section that allows individual to
undertake critical evaluation by selecting suitable methods.
Research approach- It is considered as one of crucial component of the research. This is
termed out as term that aids to provides framework that how research is need to get done
(Schachner, 2019). Also, this is defined as termed that helps to undertake the purpose of
research effectively. The researcher will use inductive approach as this starts with the
observation and theories that are proposed towards the end of tesearch.
Research philosophy- This is approach that helps to undertake plan that shows that how the
research data needs to be gathered and analysed . It is term that helps to conduct the overall study

within systematic manner. Therefore, research will have the use of interpretivism method as this
aids to interprets the elements of the study.
Research type- It is termed out as the careful consideration that hekos to undertake the
particualr concern with use of scientific techniques (Butterby and Collins, 2019). Henceforth
research type categoriesed as qualitative and quantitative. To undertake qualitative study,
theoretical data can be analysed with framing of questionnaire. Thus, quantitative data can be
gather with use of numerical data that define the facts and figure. Therefore, researcher will use
qualtiative technique to undertake the study as this aids to conduct the tesearch with use of
tabulat presentation.
Data collection- This is termed out as the method that define as to collect and measure the
information on the basis of variables of interest. Thus, data can be collect with use of two
techniques as primary and secondary. Herein, researcher will have the use of primary technique
to conduct the study properly as this aids to collect the unfirmation with use framing iof
questionnaire.
Sampling- It is temed out as the process that defined as to select target people from population.
Therefore, sampling categorised as probability and non probability (Özbilgin, 2019). Thus,
tesearcher will have the use of sample random technique to collect the study properly. The
sample size will be 20 managers of tesco
Data analysis- It is a process that termed out as to interpret the data to gain relevant information
so that aims and objectives to research study can be accomplished. Thus, data needs to be
analysed so that research can be collected in accurate and precise. In this, thematic analysis will
be used to undertake the research study effectively. This will aids to the systematic presentation
to research with gtaph, table and themes etc.
