TITLE: To analyse the effectiveness of leadership on organisational management in order toimprove performance and sales. A case study on Wm Morrisons Supermarket plc. CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION1.1 Overview of research Leader is a person who is having the ability to manage and guide others for achievingsome common purpose. Leadership plays most significant role in every business organisation,because all activities that are held in firm are handled by the leaders. They are different fromorganisational manager, leaders are born to be leader (Antonakis, 2017). A leader is the head ofthat new direction and responsible for all activities. Each organisation is focused on managingtheir all activities in efficient manner in order to improving their performance and sales. Thebasic purpose of firm is to attract large number of customers for reaching at competitiveadvantage at market place. Wm Morrison Supermarket plc, is the worlds fourth largestsupermarket chain in the united kingdom, its mainly deals in grocery, food, electronic and luxuryhome products and equipments. The major aim of firm is to provide high quality services to theirpotential buyers and try to satisfying their needs and wants though offering variety of goods andservices. The company is concern about establishing effective leadership style in their firm,because these style are helpful in managing all work in appropriate manner so that firm canachieve their desired goals and objectives. 1.2 Significance of research This research is having an essential requirement in development of leadership styles in anorganisation because this helps in managing all work in most significant manner, so thatorganisational operation performance and sales can be increased. This research project willcreate an effective impact on leadership and its various styles that are applied by MorrisonsSupermarket plc (Goleman, Boyatzis and McKee, 2013). Leadership can be describes as theessential element of firm which helps in providing a significant direction to organisationalemployees to implement right activity at right place. This may directly or indirectly impacted onorganisational performance. Leaders are the person who are very much close to employees andknow the quality and weaknesses of firm, so they are able to assign right work to right peopleand this helps in reducing conflict and obstacles from the firm. organisation is to provide satisfactory services to their employees through rendering high qualityproducts and services with more advance features. The current research report is based oneffectiveness of leadership and various leadership styles that are helpful in properly managingorganisational activities in order to improving forms performance and sales. Sales is therepresentative of industries growth and success, high sales shows profitable condition of firm andlow sales represents loss situation for firm. The all activities that are held in firm are controlledby leader or manger, and they are responsible for all work . Major outcome of this research is torender an effective support to firm and their staff members who are working under theinstruction of leader, for the purpose of generating high sales, so that company can grow atmarket place and attain competitive advantage. 1.3 Research Aims The aim of present study is “ To measure the effectiveness of leadership onorganisational management in respect of improving performance and sales. A case study on WmMorrisons Supermarket plc. The current report is based on analysing the effectiveness ofleadership and various styles of leadership that are essential for improving organisationaloperations and sales. 1.4 Research objectivesResearch objectives can be describes as the important result of research project whichprovide a significant direction to researcher in order to giving some suggestion on the basis ofgathered outcomes. In order to carry out research activities in proper manner researcher needs toimplement some objectives that are related with present project. Some objectives are describesas follows: To ascertain effectiveness of leadership on organisational management. To evaluate the impact of leadership styles on Wm Morrisons Supermarket plcperformance and sales.To identify various elements of leadership that are needs to be improved in respect ofenhancing performance and sales of Morrisons supermarket plc. Recommend various ways through which leadership skills can be improved in order toproviding a proper direction to organisational activities. 2
