Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you are studying, personal interest,
future plans, knowledge/skills you want to improve, why the topic is important):
The major reason for the selection of the topic workplace discrimination is that the this is the major issue which is faced by companies
in these days. Hence, it is very necessary for the companies to solve this issue as this has impact over the working of the company. Thus, the
research on workplace discrimination will help companies in identifying the ways which can reduce the workplace discrimination. Another
reason is the personal and academic interest of the researcher themselves as they want to gain knowledge relating to the research topic.
Section Three: Literature sources searched
Use of key literature sources to support your research question, objective or hypothesis:
In the words of Dhanani, Beus and Joseph (2018) workplace discrimination is referred to as the differentiation which is taking place
within the company on different basis. These bases can be many like gender, age, income status, position within the company, experience of the
person, personal position of employees, family background and many other different discriminating factors. If the workplace discrimination

reason that if there will be discrimination then motivation and morale of employees will be low and they will not perform to their maximum
potential.
In against of this Kalev (2019) argues that there are many different strategies for reducing workplace discrimination. The major strategy
is to abide by all the laws which are related with the equality and related laws and legislation. This abiding by laws will help the company in
following all the necessary aspect of removing discrimination.
But as per the views of Marchiondo, Ran and Cortina (2018) there are also many challenges being faced by company when they apply
strategies to reduce the workplace discrimination. The major challenge is the cultural difference because in different culture same thing or

differentiation among the employees.

Section Five: Research approach and methodologies
What type of research approach and methodologies are you likely to use and why? What your areas of
research will cover:
Elements Description
Research type The qualitative research will be used as a type of research as the researcher wants to
understand the concept deeply and want to gain the theoretical knowledge relating to
workplace discrimination.
Research approach For this inductive research approach will be opted as this includes observing the things and
then generalising and concluding the findings of research (Sutrisna and Setiawan, 2016).
Research philosophy The philosophy of interpretivism will be undertaken as this integrates human interest in
study and is best suited with the qualitative research.
Data collection For the collection of data the researcher will use a mix of primary and secondary data as
collectively they provide for more good and reliable set of data.
Sampling For the completion of the present study research will select the sample on basis of random
sampling and will use 20 employees of Arcadia group (Tobi and Kampen, 2018).
Data analysis For the analysis and evaluation of the data the thematic analysis will be used as this
provides more clear interpretation by making the use of charts and graphs.
Comments and agreement from tutor
