CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Background of the study In UK, with the motive to offer high protection to the customers several amendmentswere made in the existing laws and legislation. On the basis of amendments customers have rightto make sue on trader for getting refunds, receiving damages and discounts in against to theundesirable practices of traders. In the context of common law, no liability for omission takesplace unless specific duty has been breached. Earlier, traders have no general duty in relation todisclosing information to the customers (Suleman, 2014). Further, in UK, irrespective of theexistence of Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations (2008) traders were notproviding customers with suitable information about goods and services. In this, the presentresearch study will provide deeper insight about commercial issues take place in UK. Further, italso presents how consumer redress for misleading practices contribute the in both customersand internal market protection. It clearly exhibits remedies which are available to the customersover unfair trade practices.Research aim and objectives Aim: The motive behind conducting present study is to ascertain the role of UKConsumer Redress for Misleading & Aggressive Practices in commercial practices, consumerand internal market protection.Research objectives: On the basis of above aim following objectives has been drafted:To develop understanding about the practices introduced by UK authorities related toMisleading & Aggressive Practices for consumer redress.To analyze the role of UK Consumer Redress for Misleading & Aggressive Practices inrestricting unfair commercial practices.To evaluate the contribution of Misleading & Aggressive Practices in consumer andinternal market protection.To recommend improvements in the existing policies and practices related to consumerredress. 1

It is the issue now because now there are several traders who engage inunethical and illegal commercial practices (Unfair trading practices, 2018). Significance of the study The present study and its findings are highly significant for other scholars who want toconduct investigation on similar topic. Such study will develop understanding of other scholarsregarding the aspects of customer redress for misleading & aggressive practices and therebyhelps in developing new topic or hypothesis. Along with this, concerned study will also provideUK authorities with input regarding the effectiveness of remedies available to the customer overundesirable practices of trader. Hence, by keeping all such aspects in mind UK authorities cantake suitable measure for customer protection and thereby strengthen existing legislation. LITERATURE REVIEWLR may be served as a scholarly paper which contains substantive findings, theoretical andmethodological contributions in relation to particular topic being investigated. In this, to assessthe role of consumer redress for misleading & commercial practices several articles have beenevaluated by the scholar for developing brief thesis. This chapter helps in meeting research aimfrom theoretical perspective and helps in supporting findings prominently. 2
