CHAPTER -2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter is about research methodologies that clearly explained about different
method that are used by scholar to collect, identified and analysis information related to the
topic. So that necessary information can be used by various individual to take decision related to
policies, frameworks and practices related to sustainable tourism.
Research type: There are different method through which research can be pursued such as
qualitative and quantitative. In quantitative, numerical or statics are mainly used to gathered and
interprete information while qualitative is solely descriptive. Qualitative research method
focused on obtaining data through two different method such as conversation and open- ended
Therefore, out of the both the scholar has make use of qualitative research method as it
contribute in- depth study related to the topic through observation or personal interviews.
Research Approach: It specific about plans and procedures or assumption regarding the way
research will be continue in order to drive useful information related to policies and practices of
company to promote sustainability. It can be stated that Inductive and deductive are two different
approach, inductive is mainly used to generate untested conclusions. On the contrary note
deductive conclusion so inductive approach is used as it start with aim, objectives and question
that are achieved while completing the research.
Research philosophies: It is another element of research methodology which specific about
belief that is taken by scholar while making the study. Positive is suitable for large and highly
structured samples, while realism can be used in both quantitative and qualitative research. At
the same time interpretivism are suitable for in-depth and qualitative research so it has been used
by scholar to complete the study.
Data collection: This specific about the manner in which data will be collected from different
sources so that useful information can be extracted in limited time frame. Primary is an method
in which first-hand information is gathered as researchers itself collect information through
questionnaire or interview. On the other hand, In secondary method different books, journal and
articles as well as internet is used to collect information. Therefore, both primary as well as
secondary method has been used by researcher as questionnaire has been prepared that will be
asked employee's of Savoy Hotel. At the same time, secondary research is also made through

Data analysis: This is part of research methodologies which explained the manner in which data
will be analysed so that it can easily interpret to interested individual. The several methods that
could be used by researcher for data analysis are thematic and SPSS in which thematic, several
themes, graph and table are used to represent information. On contrary note SPSS is mostly
suitable for quantitative research which involves use of numerical in order to complete the
project. Therefore, thematic analysis has been used by scholar to complete the research or study
on policies, and practices related to sustainability.
Sampling: It is process that is mainly used for statistical analysis that helps in predetermined
number of observation that are gathered from larger population. Simple random sampling in
which researchers randomly select individuals of particular population in order to gathered
relevant information related to study. So, scholar has pursued by making use of simple random
sampling in which 30 employees of Savoy Hotel has been selected and their interviews has been
taken for better outcome.
Ethical consideration: It can be stated that all ethical values has been considered while making
the research project so that study can be made fruitful. Such as consent of all respondent has
been taken by researchers or it has fully informed about the way their information gathered will
be used in the research. Moreover, it can be stated that researchers has ensured that all
participants are given equal chance to give their respective view in the research so that accurate
and reliable information can be collected and analysed. At the same time scholar has taken all
steps or action related to maintaining confidentiality of information gathered from respondent so
that no one make unnecessary use of it in any manner.
Research Limitations: There are certain things which has make my research limited to some
extend such as the aim and objectives of the research can be made more broader. Furthermore, it
can be stated that due to less experience in primary data collection scholar is not able to make it
more effective. Another limitations of research is that lack of previous studies in particular area
which resulted in limitation of appropriate research. At the same time it can be interpreted that
despite of lack of time, resources the scholar has tried to make best use of them so that necessary
information can be collected.
So, the above contain represent about different method that has been used by scholar to
complete the study and gathered relevant information in context of policies, practices related to

CHAPTER 3: LITERATURE REVIEW
Literature review section of dissertation project reflect views and opinions provided by
different writers and intellectuals. Critical discussion is projected in this part so all dimensions
related to topic can cover by the researcher to gain proper knowledge over research topic.
Theme 1: Sustainable tourism
Views provided by Lee and Xue (2020), reflect that ensuring proper facilities related to
fulfilling both current and future need or requirements associated with travel and tourism sector.
The concept of sustainable tourism also include minimising cost of delivering services and
maximise the benefits. This entire concept give emphasis to channelize resources in such manner
that society can fulfil all its current needs along with reserving resources to fulfil the future
requirements of businesses. Hales and Jennings (2017), reflected in its study over sustainable
tourism that this entire concept is more keen to protect the growth and sustainability of the
tourism sector. It is important that resources must not be over utilised so that organisation,
companies and other institutions can meet its current needs along with catering equal growth
opportunities to future as well.
Theme 2: Policies, framework and practices to promote sustainable tourism
Ziyadin and et.al. (2019), in its research study projected that sustainable tourism
conservation can be achieved with the support of different techniques and practices. Go green is
among the major practice that government has implemented at a global level. IN this policy
government has given emphasis to improve plantation and green area across the country. This
will allow the government to continuously attract the travellers and tourist at a global level. This
practice has developed the growth possibilities of travel and tourism sector at a global level.
Dedeke (2017), in its study over sustainable tourism projected practices used by the government
in UK. Policies like eco-friendly tourism services like cycling, green energy and environment
friendly products. Adventure sports are also established at different areas that could also
contribute massively in protecting sustainable tourism. Development of wild life is also a part of
major practice used to improve sustainable tourism.
Criticism related to approaches used to promote sustainable tourism has been done over
the study report submitted by Lozano-Oyola and et.al. (2019), which denote that sustainable
tourism practices could somehow restrict the decision making approach of the government. This
9
Document Page
does not allow the governmental bodies to take strong or risky decision in order to expand the
overall growth of the organisation.
Theme 3: Impacts of practices related to sustainable tourism
As per the opinions illustrated by Mohaidin, Wei and Murshid (2017), over sustainable
tourism is that it directly expand the growth possibilities of the business houses. This entire
concept allow the business entities to maximises the overall development possibilities of
different business entities operate in country. The main benefits of the sustainable tourism
practice is that it protect the natural resources across the country along with it also favour the
business houses to growth in the competitive environment. The whole concept of sustainable
tourism also generate employment opportunity in the country.
While reflecting criticism over sustainable tourism Ghoochani and et.al. (2020),
demonstrated that it has created certain negative impacts that needed to overcome by
government. In order to advance the entire travel and tourism sector sustainable tourism restrict
the government and institutions to take strong decisions. Companies also not like to enter such
market as there are plenty of restrictions which government imposed to ensure sustainability in
travel and tourism sector.

CHAPTER-5 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
This is a final chapter included in dissertation project. This section give emphasis over
concluding all key points identified through the project and possible recommendations to
overcome the barriers.
Conclusion
Sustainable tourism is the concept that give emphasis to sustaining growth of the travel
and tourism sector. This involves minimising negative impacts of travel and tourism sector and
maximise the overall outcomes associated with the sector. Techniques like green tourism, eco-
friendly travel and tourism practices such as cycling and many other practices that can provide
support to sustain travel and tourism sector. Sustainable tourism sector always favour the
companies and business entities associated with travel and tourism sector to sustain the existing
growth of the sector and also to motivate future growth possibilities associated with the business
entities.
Recommendation
It is recommended that government can follow the policy where it can promote the eco
friendly tourism. Government can promote sporting activities in the country. This is among the
major technique which government can use to achieve the growth possibilities in travel and
tourism sector. It is recommended that this all practices will allow government to motivate other
potential travellers to explore the country (Siakwah, Musavengane and Leonard, 2020).
Government can also provide easy licence facility of companies and organisation so that new
entrant can come and explore business opportunities in market. It is recommended that along
with all this government can also give emphasis to channelizes policies like green energy where
it needs to develop forest so that more greenery can be expanded across the country.

precise knowledge over conducting a study. I got to understand about the significance of
literature review in collecting information for doing any of the research project.
REFFLECTION AND ALTERNATIVE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
It can be stated that in the research the scholar has make use of thematic method for data
analysis so despite of that it can also make use of SSPS software in order to get more better
information. Moreover, the qualitative method has been used to study related to policies,
procedures and practices related to sustainable tourism (Baum, 2018). So rather than researcher
can also make use of alternative research methodology that is quantitative which involves use of
statics and numerical facts in order to collect and interpreted necessary information. Therefore,
overall it can be interpreted that all these are alternative research methodologies which could also
been used by scholar to complete the study.

huge challenge over sustainability of the sector. This study has been done over Savoy Hotel that

Literature Review
As per the views illustrated by Panayiotopoulos and Pisano (2019), sustainable tourism is
defined as the form of tourism that ensure proper supply of all the needs relating to tourists and
travel and tourism sector as a whole. The concept is further diversified into the fundamental that
it involve ensuring proper supply of all travel and tourism sector requirements without any
compromise in fulfilling future needs. This is about to utilise the resources in the optimum
manner so that growth rate of the industry could not only sustain at its minimum level along with
to also improve the future growth possibilities.
On the basis of the opinions illustrated by Mak, Cheung and Hui (2017), in its book over
tourism sustainability that there are certain techniques can be used to ensure the growth of the
sector. Go green is among the major policy that companies can implement along with
government. Green tourism must be promoted in which eco-friendly practices like cycling, green
energy and other such services are promoted by government and companies. Haddouche and
Salomone (2018), projected the practices like reducing carbon footprint. Improving plantation
and the campaigns related to spreading awareness for greenery is also a major policy that is used
to protect sustainable tourism. Research conducted by the author also favoured island tourism. In
this practice government can develop its several islands within its own territories. Future of the
travel and tourism sector not only restricted to eco-friendly tourism but also towards adventurous
travel and tourism in which government can focus over developing different adventurous spots
like river rafting, skydiving, scuba diving, para sailing, mountain climbing and many such sports.
Contradictory statements provided by Grilli and et.al. (2021), in its study over sustainable
tourism is that many governments including the government in United Kingdom is focusing
more towards developing adventurous sports as a part of sustainable tourism which is good but
the major focus must be over protecting greenery across the country. Especially in developed
countries infrastructural development could completely demolish the green areas that completely
restrict government to ensure travel and tourism sustainability.

Sustainable tourism has become the major focus of all countries especially in order to
grow the industry. As the concept is about to ensure the sector growth in both the respect current
and future. Garay, Font and Corrons (2019), in its study about the sector demonstrate that
sustainable tourism favour the country to not only sustain the growth rate along with this also
allow to expand the development in future as well. This creates a positive impacts in customer
experience and customer satisfaction rate in travel and tourism sector. Comparative assessment
demonstrate that such countries who has an emphasis over improving eco-friendly tourism and
sustainable tourism are more capable to attract travellers for revisiting the destination as compare
to other countries.
Whereas, on the other hand research conducted by Cavagnaro, Staffieri and Postma
(2018), over sustainable tourism, demonstrate side effects of the concept like it restrict the
capacity or potential of government. This concept many times not favour government in taking
risk related to launching new services and facilities to expand the sector growth rate. It also cost
plenty of money in covering all areas of sustainable tourism.
