CHAPTER -2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter is about research methodologies that clearly explained about different
method that are used by scholar to collect, identified and analysis information related to the
topic. So that necessary information can be used by various individual to take decision related to
policies, frameworks and practices related to sustainable tourism.
Research type: There are different method through which research can be pursued such as
qualitative and quantitative. In quantitative, numerical or statics are mainly used to gathered and
interprete information while qualitative is solely descriptive. Qualitative research method
focused on obtaining data through two different method such as conversation and open- ended
Therefore, out of the both the scholar has make use of qualitative research method as it
contribute in- depth study related to the topic through observation or personal interviews.
Research Approach: It specific about plans and procedures or assumption regarding the way

company to promote sustainability. It can be stated that Inductive and deductive are two different
approach, inductive is mainly used to generate untested conclusions. On the contrary note
deductive conclusion so inductive approach is used as it start with aim, objectives and question
that are achieved while completing the research.
Research philosophies: It is another element of research methodology which specific about
belief that is taken by scholar while making the study. Positive is suitable for large and highly
structured samples, while realism can be used in both quantitative and qualitative research. At
the same time interpretivism are suitable for in-depth and qualitative research so it has been used
by scholar to complete the study.
Data collection: This specific about the manner in which data will be collected from different
sources so that useful information can be extracted in limited time frame. Primary is an method
in which first-hand information is gathered as researchers itself collect information through
questionnaire or interview. On the other hand, In secondary method different books, journal and
articles as well as internet is used to collect information. Therefore, both primary as well as
secondary method has been used by researcher as questionnaire has been prepared that will be

Data analysis: This is part of research methodologies which explained the manner in which data
will be analysed so that it can easily interpret to interested individual. The several methods that
could be used by researcher for data analysis are thematic and SPSS in which thematic, several
themes, graph and table are used to represent information. On contrary note SPSS is mostly
suitable for quantitative research which involves use of numerical in order to complete the
project. Therefore, thematic analysis has been used by scholar to complete the research or study
on policies, and practices related to sustainability.
Sampling: It is process that is mainly used for statistical analysis that helps in predetermined
number of observation that are gathered from larger population. Simple random sampling in
which researchers randomly select individuals of particular population in order to gathered
relevant information related to study. So, scholar has pursued by making use of simple random
sampling in which 30 employees of Savoy Hotel has been selected and their interviews has been
taken for better outcome.
Ethical consideration: It can be stated that all ethical values has been considered while making
the research project so that study can be made fruitful. Such as consent of all respondent has
been taken by researchers or it has fully informed about the way their information gathered will
be used in the research. Moreover, it can be stated that researchers has ensured that all
participants are given equal chance to give their respective view in the research so that accurate
and reliable information can be collected and analysed. At the same time scholar has taken all
steps or action related to maintaining confidentiality of information gathered from respondent so
that no one make unnecessary use of it in any manner.
Research Limitations: There are certain things which has make my research limited to some
extend such as the aim and objectives of the research can be made more broader. Furthermore, it
can be stated that due to less experience in primary data collection scholar is not able to make it
more effective. Another limitations of research is that lack of previous studies in particular area
which resulted in limitation of appropriate research. At the same time it can be interpreted that
despite of lack of time, resources the scholar has tried to make best use of them so that necessary
information can be collected.
So, the above contain represent about different method that has been used by scholar to

REFFLECTION AND ALTERNATIVE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
It can be stated that in the research the scholar has make use of thematic method for data
analysis so despite of that it can also make use of SSPS software in order to get more better

Literature Review
As per the views illustrated by Panayiotopoulos and Pisano (2019), sustainable tourism is
defined as the form of tourism that ensure proper supply of all the needs relating to tourists and
travel and tourism sector as a whole. The concept is further diversified into the fundamental that
it involve ensuring proper supply of all travel and tourism sector requirements without any
compromise in fulfilling future needs. This is about to utilise the resources in the optimum
manner so that growth rate of the industry could not only sustain at its minimum level along with
to also improve the future growth possibilities.
On the basis of the opinions illustrated by Mak, Cheung and Hui (2017), in its book over
tourism sustainability that there are certain techniques can be used to ensure the growth of the
sector. Go green is among the major policy that companies can implement along with
government. Green tourism must be promoted in which eco-friendly practices like cycling, green
energy and other such services are promoted by government and companies. Haddouche and
Salomone (2018), projected the practices like reducing carbon footprint. Improving plantation
and the campaigns related to spreading awareness for greenery is also a major policy that is used
to protect sustainable tourism. Research conducted by the author also favoured island tourism. In
this practice government can develop its several islands within its own territories. Future of the
travel and tourism sector not only restricted to eco-friendly tourism but also towards adventurous
travel and tourism in which government can focus over developing different adventurous spots
like river rafting, skydiving, scuba diving, para sailing, mountain climbing and many such sports.
Contradictory statements provided by Grilli and et.al. (2021), in its study over sustainable
tourism is that many governments including the government in United Kingdom is focusing
more towards developing adventurous sports as a part of sustainable tourism which is good but
the major focus must be over protecting greenery across the country. Especially in developed
countries infrastructural development could completely demolish the green areas that completely
restrict government to ensure travel and tourism sustainability.

Research design is of two different types such as exploratory research design and
descriptive study. Exploratory design is about to identify what is happening and based on the
observation it involves getting insight over research topic. Descriptive study is more detailed
involve identification of actual information. This study is based on exploratory research design.
Research Approach
Research approach is the plan and procedure behind conducting study. Approaches are
identified as deductive and inductive. This is about to achieve specific elements from general
theories. Inductive approach is about to generalize the information from a specific context. This
research will use inductive approach.
