This research proposal aims to understand and develop further research on the issue of privacy protection in the age of digital marketing and consumer behaviours. It includes case studies of Facebook, eBay and Marriott International. The study will be conducted using the interpretivist approach and inductive method of analysis. The research questions include ways in which retailers, hotels and other marketers protect customer data and privacy, repercussions of data threats to customers, and ways in which marketers fail to maintain privacy protection guidelines.
