RESIDENTIAL EXPERIENCE REFLECTION 2
Residential experience reflection
This essay is self-reflection of my residential learning experience at the time of my post-
graduation time. I have considered differed areas for reflection such as leadership, teamwork,
and conflict and time management. The several personal development requirements were
addressed and evaluated according to theoretical support and use of appropriate tests such as
ESFP and The global EI test results. Identification of concerned areas will support me to find out
the potential areas of future development with enhancement. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
(MBTI) is a measurement that believes to evaluate the psychological preferences in how an
individual observes the global and make judgements. Global EI test evaluates both emotional as
well as social competencies for well-rounded image of emotional intelligence and opportunities
of an individual for development.
This reflective essay describes the events where I have gained my experience in different areas.
After a critical assessment of each point, I have discussed the final conclusion on my part to
develop an understanding of my stand that demonstrated my areas of enhancement in long-term.
This essay is developed as per the received supervisor’s feedback after completion of residential
address. It has developed my own experience regarding such activity. Along with this, Gibbs
reflective model is critically analyzed by considering different elements such as descriptions,
feelings; evaluation, conclusion, and action all are interconnected in a cyclical way.
Throughout the events at fall barrow, I have developed my residential experience and gained my
learning about myself that I did not notice earlier from now. This event has boosted my both
personal and professional experience as well as real-world experiences. But, in this essay, I will

only emphasize on personal experiences regarding the earlier mentioned field of concern. I will
also address my strength and weaknesses during the events.
Throughout the events at fall barrow, I gained an appreciation of myself that I did not notice
earlier. This event has boosted my both personal and professional experience. The first task
allowed me to present to the team my leadership skills in particular my strategy thoughts. The
task did not go well as my leadership skills were not up to the mark and I performed very badly.
According to my Myer Briggs test of personality, I scored low in sensing and feeling areas which
demonstrate my lack of awareness with others during this process. As noted by Bolman and Deal
(2017), ‘leadership is the competency of the company’s management in terms of creating sound
decision and encouraging others to perform effectively. In contrast to this, managers who
demonstrate the good leadership qualities can lead their teams for attaining the specified tasks.’
Reflecting on this event and the evidence it is clear I need to address my leadership approach.
The outcome was a lack of team coordination as well as lack of planning and communication
skills (Tannenbaum, and Schmidt, 2017). During the event, I have also participated in Web
Bridge task of day 1 where I have to arrange all resources in the right way. The outcome was a
lack of team coordination as well as lack of planning and communication skills (Tannenbaum,
and Schmidt, 2017). It indicates that my leadership skill is not up to the mark and very bad. From
the Myer Briggs test of personality, it is assessed that I scored low in sensing and feeling that are
cause of lack of planning (Sources: Appendix 1).

However, during a business task on day 2, I have developed my leadership skills. On day 2 & 3
of residential experience, there was a high amount of smaller task for gathering the wedge and
sell them for accomplishing the total sale amount of 7500 GBP. During this task, I have improper
planning so that I have wasted more time. But, my team coordination was great so that I finished
this task effectively (Antonakis and Day, 2017).
On Day 2, it appears that my leadership skills allowed my team members to contribute more of
their efforts and plans were made for the following day. All the team participated and I felt all
members are contributed more efforts and made plans for the next day. And, the next day, all
team members have participated in this task and sale all wedges. Due to this, I got 7500 GBP and
the task was effectively completed. Thus, a situational leadership strategy is used by me for
completing this task (Priest and Gass, 2017). The global EI test results indicate that I got high
score in self-management that helps to meet this task (Sources: Appendix 2).
Team cohesion is necessary to encourage team members to concentrate and contribute their
efforts towards a team goal. The need for each team member to complement each other and
develop strength allows a team to effectively compete. Each factor is contributed to effectively
complete the whole task of the team. In opposed to this, it is stated that the team member should
complement to each other and the best complementary team would be recognized at the end of
the task (Häfner Stock and Oberst, 2015).
During the ‘Maze’ task, I was extremely pleased with myself as I addressed the correct path to
finish the task with all rules and regulations. However, after finishing this task, I received the
