INTRODUCTION
The report includes the role of managers and leaders in different situational context
including some leadership style models. For accomplishing their report the chosen Organisation
is Starbucks Cafe, it is a American Company of roastery reserve and Coffeehouses.

P1 Define and Compare the different roles and characteristics of leader and manager
Role of leader
Leadership is an activity of directing, influencing and guiding the individual in order to
shape effective leaders (Hays, 2016). There are various roles which is played by leader in
Starbucks Cafe they are:
Creates Structure:
The main role of leader is to create organisational structure, decision making authority,
process and job roles that helps in increasing the performance and efficiency of employees in
Starbucks Cafe. Leaders mainly focus on encouraging and supporting team members that
produce the products and perform well in Starbucks Cafe.
Build Trust:
Leader of Starbucks Cafe ensure that their followers must have a set of skills,
competencies and accountability to perform their work, know how outcomes of the work
measured and understand how their work must serve the objectives of Starbucks.
Characteristics of Leaders

Leaders also have an ability to communicate with followers in effective manner that

Managers of Starbucks Cafe keep focus on handling the disturbance, they are responsible
to take corrective actions when Cafe faces any unexpected disturbance. They mainly focus on
reviewing emerging situations and handling disturbance.

internal and external information about the Cafe and take the precautionary action so that
business can be run in effective and smooth manner.

individual development and working outcomes of employees. They support the collaboration at

The managers of Starbucks is responsible to solve the issues ad conflicts arises in workplace so
