INTRODUCTION
The concept of safeguarding is all about working with children, the young adults as well
as their families in order to take all the reasonable measures to reduce the developing risks of
harm towards the welfare of children. In this, where there are some of the concerns about the
welfare of the children, a multi-agency approach is being taken to address these such things. The
concept of safeguarding is wider than the concept of Child Protection as it can also involve
prevention of children as well. The term safeguarding specifically aims to outline the effective
roles as well as responsibilities for the safeguarding as a main member for the services of
children such as their goods can look like in regard to robust the local safeguarding care
practices. It is generally an integral part of giving an elevated quality well-being care services. In
this, there is a discussion about the specific policies, practices, and effective procedures that are
being used to safeguard the children and young adults as well. In addition to this, there is also a
discussion about the possible signs and symptoms, behaviours and indicators that can cause an
involvement in the safeguarding context towards children and young adults (Safeguarding
children and child protection, 2022).

The children can involve the rights to be safeguard from the specific harm. In this,
safeguarding as well as protecting the child procedures and policies are generally an essential
part of protecting both the children and young adults. They both should be empowered by a good
governance, well-being and safety, the supervision of staff and their management, economic
management. In addition to this, the child protection or a safeguarding policy statement can
make it quite clear about the workplace or a group which will perform to keep the children safe
or protected. It must set out such as, the commitments of the workplace or a community to
protect every children, the deep structured procedures as well as the policies within workplace
that can put in place to keep the children safe as well as can respond towards the protection of

the legislations and policies which can surround the safeguarding the children such as The
Children Act 1989, The Children and Social Work Act 2017, The Education Act 2002, The
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child 1992 and so on.

The Children Act 1989: The Act can gave every child the specific rights such as being protected
from harm or abuse and the right to inquiries to safeguard their welfare.
The Children and Social Work Act 2017: The Act is generally intended to enhance the
encouragement for looked after every child and the care leaves, can promote the safeguarding
and welfare of every child as well as can make provisions about the regulations of the social
workers.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child 1992: The Act is legally-associating
the international agreement settings out the civil, economic, political, cultural and social rights of
every children, regardless of their religion, race and capabilities.
Possible signs and symptoms, indicators and behaviours which may cause concern in context of
safeguarding.
The very possible signs and symptoms, the specific behaviours and indicators that can be
a reason of concerning about the safeguarding terms such as:
 Children's unexplained alterations in their behaviours or their personality.
 Most of the children generally seems anxious.
 Many of them becoming uncharacteristically aggressive in nature.
 The reduced relationship or bond with their parents (Kavanagh et. al., 2021).
 Attempts to suicide or self-harm.
 Can attempts at running away.
 Reluctance to leave the educational activities, as if they didn't want to go home.
Illustrate the actions to take if a child or young person alleges harm or abuse in line with policies
and procedures of own settings.
The specific actions that must be taken if a child or a young person alleges abuse or a
specific harm in a line with policies and procedures within the settings such as:
 One must remember about the welfare of the children as well as their interest that should
be the paramount consideration at every time.
 Listen attentively as well as actively towards the child. At the stage, there is no necessity
to asks the particular questions. Let the children can guide the place.
 Do not express shock about what stuff is being hearing. As this can discourage the child
from continuing their disclosure as they will feel that a person is receiving the

information which is not able to overcome with what they are hearing and can be
considered as thinking badly of a children.
 Stay calm as well as can reassure the child that they have done the correct things in
talking to you (Elrefaay and Soltis-Jarrett, 2020).
Explain rights which children, young people and their families have in situation where harm or
abuse is suspected or alleged.
In most of the cases of an alleged harm or abuse with children and young adults generally
have the right to be protected from specific abuse or harm under The Children Act 1989, every
Child Matters 2004 as well as the UNCRC. Both children and young adults have the right to be
involved within all the decisions which are being made about them as well as must be kept fully
informed of the processes including them, while also being enable to express their own opinions
and views as well. In addition to this, the carers and parents generally involve the right to be
informed what is being said as well as to contribute their own opinions and viewpoints
(Aretxaga, 2018).
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it is concluded that safeguarding is all about protecting the
children and young adults as well as their rights and generally allow them to live a free life from
specific harms, neglect and abuse as well.
