Executive Summary
The service standards in the hospitality industry are changing continuously, hence require
the individuals to look forward to the areas where they can improve the quality and efficiency of
their services in meeting the industry standards. The assignment has undertaken a case of The
Ledbury considering its required services for waiters to set their performance graph. It has
discussed the skills and capabilities of Cosmin Chiriloaia to help him improve his skill set
according to the standards described by the employer. The research has discussed various
learning and development models to support the research, though it has focused on Kolb’s
learning cycle to set a focus using SMART objectives. The last part of the assignment has
discussed in detail the employment standards, and job description of a waiter or server in a
restaurant so that adequate skill set can be outlined in creating a focus and achieving its
objectives.

Introduction
Self-assessment is focused on outlining individual skills and capabilities focused on
values, and preferences using different self-assessment tools suitable for the hospitality industry
to gain success in career. Primarily, individuals in the hospitality industry can work with the
MAPP assessment tool to work on the motivational appraisal to personal potential. It can be said
that hospitality industry requires individual to adopt a continuous improvement approach
especially aligned with skills for example communication and time management skills to
consider improvement (Uen, Chang, McConville, & Tsai, 2018).
It is important for individuals in hospitality to be open towards adopting new skills and
assessment to meet the standards accordingly and improve their work criteria. The assignment is
focused on the case study of The Ledbury to assess a brief overview about the restaurant; the
development plan is focused on the individual skill set of Cosmin Chiriloaia to outline skills for
him to get a job go through the interview process successfully.
Part 1 – Case study report
Overview
The Ledbury is a 14 years old restaurant located on Ledbury Road, Notting Hill. The
restaurant holds Michelin stars, it was featured in Pellegrino and was ranked as the 50 Best
restaurants. The restaurant offers British Cuisine, and it has three Michelin Star rating. In 2005,
Chef Brett Graham started this venture, and in 2010, it was awarded the Square Meal BMW
Restaurant of the Year. Its food is described as a genius and a score as the food. Apart from the
food, it has been named for its ambience and quality services. It has been rated as one to five.
Therefore, it is very high in-service criteria; therefore, getting a job in this restaurant even as a
waiter/server makes it a big job (Brett Graham, 2018).
