The main aim of this study is to develop an understanding of the concept of the
leadership. The different concept of leadership are discussed to enable gain an
understanding of various characteristics to be possessed by the leaders while
carrying out different managerial functions. The study further demonstrates
strategies used by a positive leader for the improvement of the productivity and
wellbeing of the engineers. Lastly, the different kinds of skills and development
experience used by an organization are also discussed.
Slide 2:
Leadership refers to the act of knowing oneself effectively as well as
communicating the vision to others efficiently. An effective leadership aids in
building trust among colleagues by implementing it in an effective action plan.
Further the action plan is also inclusive of the means to improve the leadership
capabilities. Positive leadership includes the identification of the means for
influencing a huge number of people towards the attainment of the
organizational goals. Leadership is an art of inspiring a huge number of
employees for the accomplishment of allocated work (Iqbal, et al., 2015).

Honesty and integrity are two essential elements for the leaders as the same
facilitate them to perform well in the organization. Effective leadership is only
possible by involvement of an unquestionable integrity in the conduct (Dune, et
al., 2016). Integrity as well as honestly are two imperative components which
could facilitate an individual for being a successful leader. Honesty and
transparency in the conduct of the leaders increases the probability of success
for the organisation in terms of the upcoming period. The conduct of the leaders
entail a good example for the employees to follow the same. The acts of an
effective leader inspire the behaviour of others (Iqbal, et al., 2015).

Commitment and passion are another imperative components that are vital for
an individual for being a positive leader. An individual who is passionate about
the allocated work means they have the ability to yield positive results as
compared to those people who did not possess the passion for the job role
(Dune, et al., 2016). Another characteristic, which is essential for the leader is
the possession of a high confidence level. A higher confidence level is vital to
guide the members of an organization and thus increasing the probability of
success for the individuals as well as the firm for the upcoming periods (Ghaffari,
et al., 2017).

In order to become a successful leader, an individual must possess positivity in
the overall attitude to turn them into positive results for an entity. Positivity is
effective in the accomplishment of the organizational tasks (Ledbetter, 2016). It
must be furthest noted that the positive attitude of a leader leads to the higher
competitive advantages in terms of overall management of functions.
Another characteristic to be possessed by a leader is that he should have good

communication skills as the same facilitates a positive relationship between the
employees and leaders by declining of the conflicts (Mohiuddin, 2017).

Leaders should have sound decision-making abilities to make a decision in terms
of the dynamic business environment and gaining higher competitive
advantages (Van, et al. 2015). Further a team leader should have the capability
of taking the accountabilities for the business strategies and the business
performance. The attitude of taking the accountability would enable in increasing
the productivity of the firm by inspiring the employees for the same (Mohiuddin,
2017).

It is further stated that empowerment is an essential act that could facilitate a
person to be a successful leader in the working place. Creativity and innovation
are yet another characteristics which could facilitate a leader to stand out from
the crowd of a particular team. These characteristics are significant to develop
unique ideas for meeting the organizational task (Ledbetter, 2016).

Empathy is also an imperative trait that is required for being a positive leader. A
team leader should maintain an approach of empathy with the followers. While
most of the team leaders engage in the dictatorial leadership style and are
ignorant of the empathy altogether. Consequently, it would decline the
probability of making a closer connection with the employees (Iqbal, et al., 2015)

A leader can improve the morale of an employee (engineer) through the
participative leadership strategy. An engineer would feel more engaged while
they have a voice in activities as well as the business decisions. While workforces
feel the restriction of their autonomy and submissive responsibility, they have a
high tendency to withdraw from the responsibility and do not emphasize on the
completion of a task (Van, et al., 2015). In addition to this, participative
management provides a sense of involvement to the workforce that they are key
stakeholders in the operation of department or corporation.

Participative leadership goes hand in hand with a team-oriented organization.
The aim is to get the workforce open up, share ideas as well as discuss the
perspective regarding those ideas before creating the decisions (Dunne, et al.,
2016). When there is a participative environment, a discussion is created more
easily and the conduct of the activities is more coordinated and mirror an overall
participative culture. Moreover, workforces share the ideas as well as, discusses
the conflicts cooperatively (Ghaffari, et al., 2017).

Innovative thinking is vital in the culture of participative leadership (Ledbetter,
