Scope Statement
It is defined as the type of statement which contains the deliverables of a project, this
statement is very much required to understand the objectives of a project. The success criteria
of a project can be understood in the first place using a scope statement. This statement is
written by the project manager before writing the statement of work. The entire life cycle of
the products can be understood using the scope statement as well.
Problem statement
There are downtime issues associated with the current core system of Smart Money
Bank; as a result, this banking organization is facing a huge challenge to retain their loyal
consumers. Thus, the existing system needs to be upgraded so that the net revenue of this
business starts increasing.
Description of the product:
The core system of Smart Money Bank shall be upgraded to the latest version of the
ABM software. The new system shall have new features both for the consumers and for the
employees working in the bank. The software can be very much useful to communicate the
service providers of this bank as well such as the external contractors.
Objectives of the project
The objectives of this project are as followings:
Improve the uptime of the ABMs throughout the bank’s network
Acquire new version of ABM software
Develop a schedule for a phased implementation of the project
Arrange for technical and user acceptance testing of the new software
Engage a focus customer focus group to assess the new features being offered

There are two categories of scope statement which usually considered by the project
managers, such as the in-scopee which includes all the inclusions of a project and out scope,
which shall include the exclusions of the project.
In-scope: Documentations shall be provided to the investors of this project who will
be funding the financial resource required in this project. The other inclusion of this project
shall be a user manual, as the new version of the software shall have numerous new features
which will be a little bit challenging for its new users. Each of these shall be there when the
project gets completed.
Out scope: On the other hand, there will be few exclusions as well in this project. The
main reason behind the presence of the out scope constraints related to this project which
shall be described in the following segment of this paper. Based on the total budget which is
allocated for this project, the two most significant thing which shall not be provided after the
successful completion of this project are is maintenance and training sessions. Training
sessions shall be requiring additional investments; hence it is considered in this category.
Maintenance cost of this project is very much dynamic and depends upon the local marketing
conditions of Trinidad.
