Scope Statement
It is defined as the type of statement which contains the deliverables of a project, this
statement is very much required to understand the objectives of a project. The success criteria
of a project can be understood in the first place using a scope statement. This statement is
written by the project manager before writing the statement of work. The entire life cycle of
the products can be understood using the scope statement as well.
Problem statement
There are downtime issues associated with the current core system of Smart Money
Bank; as a result, this banking organization is facing a huge challenge to retain their loyal
consumers. Thus, the existing system needs to be upgraded so that the net revenue of this
business starts increasing.
Description of the product:
The core system of Smart Money Bank shall be upgraded to the latest version of the
ABM software. The new system shall have new features both for the consumers and for the
employees working in the bank. The software can be very much useful to communicate the
service providers of this bank as well such as the external contractors.
Objectives of the project
The objectives of this project are as followings:
 Improve the uptime of the ABMs throughout the bank’s network
 Acquire new version of ABM software
 Develop a schedule for a phased implementation of the project
 Arrange for technical and user acceptance testing of the new software
 Engage a focus customer focus group to assess the new features being offered

There are two categories of scope statement which usually considered by the project
managers, such as the in-scopee which includes all the inclusions of a project and out scope,
which shall include the exclusions of the project.
In-scope: Documentations shall be provided to the investors of this project who will
be funding the financial resource required in this project. The other inclusion of this project
shall be a user manual, as the new version of the software shall have numerous new features
which will be a little bit challenging for its new users. Each of these shall be there when the
project gets completed.
Out scope: On the other hand, there will be few exclusions as well in this project. The
main reason behind the presence of the out scope constraints related to this project which
shall be described in the following segment of this paper. Based on the total budget which is
allocated for this project, the two most significant thing which shall not be provided after the
successful completion of this project are is maintenance and training sessions. Training
sessions shall be requiring additional investments; hence it is considered in this category.
Maintenance cost of this project is very much dynamic and depends upon the local marketing
conditions of Trinidad.
Assumptions
There are numerous assumptions related to this project such as the availability of
resources required in the project. The new version of the software shall be running on the
ABM machines, it can be assumed that experienced designers, programmers, database
experts shall be easily obtained for this project with the cost which is allocated for the
external stakeholders of this project. The older version of the software will not be supported
by the vendors starting January 1, 2021. The other assumption of this project is that some
cross-section of the customers can play their role in the testing of the new product. It can also

be assumed rat the local banks of Trinidad can authorize the credit card transactions using
web interface. The other assumption of this project is that the local populace can help to
reduce traffic within the tax offices.
Constraints
This software up-gradation projects shall have two constraints, each of them can have
a devastating effect on the successful completion of this project. One of these constraints is
the total budget related to this project which is US$450,000. Additional budget was required
to provide training sessions to the employees who are working in this business organization.
The maintenance of this project could have been conducted by the project if there was an
adequate financial resource. The other constraint related to this project is the limited time
which is there to conduct this project due to a limitation of the software, which is six months
and it has to be completed within 31st December. The availability of more time in the project
could have added new models and stages in the project to increase the success rate of the
project.
Deliverable
The deliverable of this project shall include the System Requirement Specification
sheet which will be showing the non-functional and functional requirements of the upgraded
software. The entire plan of the project, software and hardware required for the developers
and the programmers and the contracts of each external stakeholder working in this project
are the key deliverables of this project. The upgraded core system is the most significant
deliverable of this project which shall be provided after the completion of the project.
