This essay talks about discrimination of women in the area of work and the reasons why women work more but remain underpaid in the labor industry and market. It examines the reasons behind women’s exploitation in the work industries with special reference to hotel management. The gender segregation and preferences of male waiters in the elite hotel industries, the reasons behind such regressive attitude and the outcome of such occupational gender segregation in the socio-economic condition of the society has also been explained. The paper also has a reflection portion where the author explains briefly about their experience in the hotel industry and the kind of gender segregation they witnessed in such industry.
