This paper discusses the need for domestic power in Australia and explores the benefits of solar power as a convenient and cost-effective source of energy. The target market for solar energy is identified as middle-aged and adult homeowners. The paper proposes the use of the self-determination theory to motivate households to embrace solar power. Three marketing strategies are discussed, with a focus on social media as the most appropriate and cost-effective strategy. The paper concludes with recommendations for effective marketing of solar power in Australia.
