CHAPTER-1 INTRODUCTION
The tourism is the phenomenon of social, cultural and economic that entails the people
movement to countries or places outside their usual environment for the personal or business
professional purpose. The tourism is key sector in the sustainable development which helps in
creating employment and acceptable level of profits. The tourism has the valuable place in the
world due to positive impact on the countries. The tourism is dynamic industry which benefits in
boosting revenue and creates demand & growth for various industries as to promote different
style of travelling and travellers (Benu, and et.al., 2020). The success of island leads to
development of guest house along with growth of complementary services that leads to stability
& sustainability. The research topic is about the stability of local tourism hotel in Maafushi
island in Maldives. In the research project growth opportunities and environment is examine as
to evaluate the level of stability which is experienced by local tourism hotels. With this in
research project, there are several barriers which impacts stability along with strategies are
determine as to maintain stable business environment of local tourism hotel in Maafushi island in
Maldives.

Background of study
The research report is based on the investigating the stability of local hospitality industry
in Maafushi islands in Maldives. The Maafushi is the most popular local island and best place to
stay if there is better infrastructure and travel on budget. It is located in Kaafu Atoll, with
population of over 3000. It strikes a perfect balance between lifestyle and convenience as the
island is an idyllic destination which offers relaxing and rejuvenating stay. There are several fun
things to do on Maafushi island such as snorkelling, Night & day fishing, Bikini beach, Floating
bar and safari, Dolphin safari, sandbank tours, luxury resort stay and many more. The Maafushi
attracts local tourist which offers an alternative to high end tourism that Maldives is known
world overt for (Bodkhe, and et.al., 2019).
Purpose of the study
In the current research project, the main purpose of the study is to determine the stability
of local tourism hotels in Maafushi islands. The conduct of research will help in developing the

knowledge regarding the growth opportunities & environment of local tourism hotels. The
reason to conduct this study is to identify the barriers which impacts on local tourism hotels
along with best strategies in order to maintain stable business environment of local tourism so
that lot of visitors can be attracted (Chand Dhiman, and Chauhan, 2019). The study of this
research will help in developing understanding about tourism which is beneficial in personal and
professional development.
Problem statement
With the pandemic the tourism sector is been affected which requires the stability in local
tourism. In the tourism there are several challenges which are faced such as taxation, travel
marketing, security and cross border regulations. There are several tourism destinations which
are not prepared for visitors. For this reason, there is need of stability in local tourism.
Significance of study
To study the stability of local tourism is important for attracting the tourists which helps in
creating employment opportunities. As the stability boosts revenue and creates the demand &
growth for several industries in order to promote travelling. The stability provides growth
opportunities such as technology advancement, developing infrastructure and many more. The
locals get opportunity to do business which helps in stimulating economic growth.
