Introduction
Employees are considered as the crucial part of the company as they support in the
growth and success of an entity in an efficient manner. Motivation has a direct impact on the
employee retention (Dweck and Molden, 2017). The present study is based on Lidl that is one of
the renowned supermarket chains of UK. It offers variety of products and services to the
customers of the country. The study will evaluate the impact of staff motivation on the retention
of employees within the organization.
Background of study:
Motivation refers to enhance the morale of the employees in order to perform a particular
tasks. It develops willingness among employee to perform the assigned task in an appropriate
way. In context of the given study, it is analyzed that how motivation can affect the retention of
employees at workplace.

Limitation of the study
The study is based on the motivation aspect and its impact of retention. It is quite difficult
to gather the opinion of the respondents. Apart from this, limited time and resources is also a
major limitation of the study that will directly affect the outcomes of the research work. Lack of
fund will also create constraint in the research study.
Scope of the study
In the present time, motivation is important to keep employees inspired towards the
assigned tasks (Maslow, 2019). The study will help in development of effective strategies in
order to motivate and encourages staff members to stay in the company for longer run. Further, it
will allow the researcher to develop significant knowledge regarding employee motivation and
retention.

overall level of enthusiasm along with energy levels and commitments that provide assistance to
employee in being creative as well as enhance their ability to be productive. In addition to this,
the it is crucial for an organization to have motivated staff as they are correlated with an
organizations success. Although the concept of staff motivation is complex and difficult to
measure as well as difficult to control it is essential for a business top pay emphasis on
motivating its staff in order to attain the highest level of performance. Moreover, the concept of
staff motivation is contagious as if one employee is active and engaged at work it uplifts the
moral as well as motivation of others as well. This allows an organization to ensure that the staff
is motivated to accomplish set organizational goals and objective in a timely manner.
Furthermore, the overall concept of staff motivation is vital for an organization as it helps in the
establishment of a systematic and structured employee engagement. This provide essential
support to the organization as it allows the management to include all staff members in aspect
such as decision making process and results in enhanced productivity as well as introduction of
innovation. In addition to this, the concept of staff motivation also enable an organization to
positively influence its retention rates and ensure that the organization has highly skilled as well
