INTRODUCTION
Manager is an individual who works in coordination with other people in order to
drive an organisation towards achievement of success. These are those people who
formulate plans and strategies in order to support firm in accomplishment of business
objectives. Management is defined as the procedure of harmonising as well as
coordinating employees and their activity. Manager has to play several important roles in
an enterprise. It is essential for him to possess different qualities, skills and core
competencies. As development of core competencies will help manager in performing
their roles as well as fulling responsibilities in effective manner. Manager has high
influencing and decision making power which helps in differentiating them from other
people in a company. Purpose of report is to identify interpersonal role of manager. It
also has focus on developing understanding about capabilities which are required to be
possessed by manager.
1. Literature Review
As per the view of Anderson & Anderson, (2010) manager has mainly 10 roles to be
played in an organisation which can be categorised mainly into three groups which are
interpersonal, informational and decisional. The interpersonal functions include leadership,
liaison and figurehead. Informational function involves spokesperson, monitor and discriminator.
All these functions are directly linked to the success as well as growth of firm. As leadership
which is the part of interpersonal roles of manager is important in order to guide and motivate
people to work according the superscribed standards. This activity is also essential to be
performed by the manager in order to assist firm in maintaining or improving business
performance. The function of manager as an informer is to communicate business objectives and
strategies to employees as this will help workers in identifying their roles as well as
responsibilities.
The significance of decisional role performed by manager continues to attract the interest

figurehead plays an important role in fulfilling symbolic as well as social responsibilities. As per
the opinion of (Ladkin & Kichuk, (2017), interpersonal role of manager is to identify the
training need of employees and provide them with an appropriate training. As this activity will
help firm in increasing sustainability and gaining competitive strength .
Management education has been that exposure to the theories, concepts and techniques of
the various disciplines and functions of management will help managers do their work in
effective as well as efficient manner.
Manager can improve their skills and core competencies by developing the
understanding about several contingency approaches.
As per the views of (Brown, Treviño & Harrison. (2005), manager is required to be
involved in strategic planning, directing the organization and themselves. Management is a

I have been appointed as the manager in an organisation. I got the assignment to perform
different tasks and responsibilities. Among several works, my main role is to direct people,
manage their activities and get things done in an effective as well as efficient manner. I have to
perform mainly interpersonal functions. Being a human resource manager, my duties are
motivating workers at all levels of management to improve their performance and participate in
decision making procedure. I have to act as a representative leader of company and in this, I have
to undertake responsibilities of social or legal nature. When working in an organisation, I have
faced many difficulties in dealing with the legal issues due to lack of knowledge about company
norms and laws.

to effective communication ability that I have able to develop a healthy relationship with other
people at workplace. By analysing the outcomes of the test that I believe that I need to increase
my knowledge and required to participate in several activities. As with the help of this strategy I
will able to gain expertise in particular field. From the result, I have identified that I am very
much cooperative. This is the reason that I am able to achieve success in my life. But this also a
true that I have fear of getting failed which I believe that this is normal human behaviour. But at
the same time I also perceive that I need to be increase my risk taking ability in order to become
effective as well as successful leader.
I have also identified that my role is very important in terms of driving an organisation
towards success. I have also realised that I need to develop strong leadership qualities. I had also
analysed that Leaders have been seen to make changes that have surprised people throughout the
world since they have the respect as well as full attention on their subordinates. As a manager
with interpersonal role, I have to monitor and manage the activities of manager working in other
divisions in a company for which I need to improve management knowledge and managing
skills. I have realised that I possess coordination skills which has allowed me to become
managers of other branch and divisions. Due to which I have been successful in managing
several business operations in systematic manner.
I usually use this leadership style. I believe in providing guidance to team members. I
have interest in participating in group activities. . It also provides me an ease in measuring
employee’s performance and making suitable decision. I accept input from one or more group
members when making decisions and solving problems.
I also believe that I need to develop more understanding about different management
styles which will help in identifying the appropriate techniques for managing people and their
activities. It will help me in improving my performance at workplace. I have also realised that I
have to develop an understanding about the way workplace is changing, evolving and

diversifying. It will help in developing the appropriate strategies for supporting subordinates in
making significance contribution in bringing positive changes in an enterprise. I also have
analysed that I need to develop additional abilities as well as core competencies which will be
helpful as well as beneficial in managing people and activities at multi-cultural workplace. I
perceive that I can increase my competitiveness as well as productivity by accepting diversity
and exploring same.
I have experience when working as a manager that developing the understanding about
differences amongst people is not sufficient when dealing with a diverse workforce. I have to
face several challenges associated with diversity. The most important thing I have analysed is
that I need to develop understanding The most important issues or challenges which I have
experienced are related to changing the workplace environment and encouraging people to adopt
a learning attitude. I have realised that keeping the employees satisfied and fulfilling their
demand is a difficult process. I have also analysed that I need to increase my confidence level as
I had faced many issues in making decision. I always seek support from other people to make
judgement. These factors have great and direct impact on my personal as well as professional
growth.
I am more conscious about completing my work on time and concerned about finding
solutions to the problems faced by other people working with me. I have realised that I have
specialised quality that I can adjust myself with the other people at workplace. This trait has
supported be in becoming successful leader and gaining the popularity. I have identified from
the test results that I need to become more extrovert. I need to become more social. As this will
help me in increasing my knowledge and keeping updates my selves with the latest trends which
will further assist me in improving my performance at workplace.
It also demonstrates that I am committed and loyal towards my work as well as
organisation. In neuroticism, I have achieved the average score. This indicates that I am little
emotional which is good because this factor increases As I am much interested in learning new
things as I believe that this will help me in fostering my personal as well as professional growth.
On the basis of leadership matrix, I have gained score 4 in people section and I have achieved 6
