INTRODUCTION
Social care workers takes into consideration workers which are responsible in catering
personal and professional assistance to vulnerable clients (Banks, 2012). These workers ensure
that specific, marginalised and special needs of clients are fulfilled in the best possible manner.
These individuals are provided with specialised training in domain of life span development,
parenting, interpersonal skills and behaviour management. This assignment takes into
consideration role which is played by non-direct workers in catering needs and requirements of
clients. The importance of team play will be studied focusing roles which is played by non-direct
workers.

P3 Role of non-direct workers in team operations
A team comprises of members such as managers, health care workers, non-direct
colleagues and other volunteers (Hussein, Manthorpe and Stevens, 2011). Their efforts are aimed
into serving clients with most suitable care. Here is a brief description of people role played by
non-direct workers in a team effort.
Managers: these are the person who are not involved serving clients in care home. But
Managers play a substantial role in team efforts as they manage and coordinate all the efforts of
various components and provides suggestions for improvement. The several issues which may
arise while serving service users are resolved by a manager in a productive manner so that there
is no disruption in provision of ideal care. The need for training is identified by the manager
most suitable measure is selected for the same (Jones, 2014).
Maintenance staff: the maintenance staff plays an important in team operations as well.
They assure that all the resources which are necessary in carrying out multi-disciplinary efforts
are available in right functioning form. The hindrances which occur in carrying out operations
are to be resolved right away. This feature assures that major complication in team efforts are
eliminated.
Pharmacists: They are responsible for supplying medication in the right manner. In a
team effort they assure that prescribed medicine is available for a service user when required. If

they fail to perform their duties it can lead to further complication of situation of service user and
carries the potential of causing potential losses to care home.

P4 Role of non-direct workers in maintaining health, safety and security in caring environment
The numerous parties which are involved in the catering clients in the indirect manner
make sure that there is no comprise with level of safety, security and health of individual. A brief
description considering roles which is played by them are as follows:
Maintaining Health for the service users
 The catering and laundry staff assures that level of hygiene is maintained relating to
service users.
 The tools and equipments which used to deliver service should be cleaned so that there is
a minimum chance for allergies and infections (Munn-Giddings and Winter, 2013). The pharmacists can offer and supply right medication so that level of health could be
sustained.
Maintaining safety
 The tools and equipment which are hazardous in nature such as electrical appliances and
knives etc. should either eliminated or substituted with less harmful objects. The managers can assures that level of safety could be maintained by assuring all the
direct and indirect domain are adhering to the guidelines and protocols relating to safety
(Payne, 2015).
Maintaining security in caring environment
 Receptionist with the care home should make sure that only authorised person are able to
visit the premises.
 The security staff by making sure that entry and exit procedures are to be followed in
correct manner so that security of individual in care home is enhanced. The unsafe areas in care homes such as kitchen, power backup room and store room
should be out of bounds.
Health and safety at work 1974: It is essential for a business to carry out such practices
to conform with health and safety protocols which are established by the government.

Data Protection Act 1998: This act enforces that private data which has been provided
by the client must not be used for any other person rather than treatment of a service. The duty of
preserving confidential data lies with the service provider exclusively.

It is extremely important for a manager to supervise and manage the action of workers so
that good practices are promoted (Reeves and et. al., 2011). It is essential to cater them with
support so that their operations could be enhanced. The major importance which is ascertained
through supervision and management are as follows:
 The first major benefit which could be availed is that state of relationships among
workers and clients definitely improves. This tend to increase satisfaction level of both
the parties.
 It offers assistance and guidance to the workers in areas in which they are not able to
perform well. This will lead to improved performance by the workers.
 The workers feel that they are an crucial part of this institution and remain committed for
a longer duration.
 The self esteem and morale of the workers definitely increases which impacts upon their
quality of performance (Stevens and et. al., 2011).
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the above report that workers who are not directly involved in
serving clients are crucial to an institution as well. The various roles which are played by them
assures that resources are managed in the ideal manner along with provision of right medication
and clean and healthy environment. The interpersonal skills are crucial for them as it assists in
carrying out their functions in the right manner. The manager needs to supervise and manage
activities of workers so that their queries are addressed. The another impact is that employees
performance could be uplifted along with retention rates.
