This document explains how to promote the program vision to all the stakeholders both within Zero Waste SA and Zootz Kitchen Bar and maintain alignment of the program vision with the sponsoring organization mission and values. It also explains the importance of treating stakeholders fairly and equitably, encouraging and facilitating open discussions, managing differences constructively and attending to issues and concerns in a timely manner. Additionally, it explains how to choose and apply interpersonal and leadership styles based on the circumstances while honoring realistic personal commitments.

A couple of surprises were in store for Zootz Kitchen Bar when it joined a new industry
sustainability and waste management program in Adelaide. First was a realisation of just
how much food waste the restaurant was sending to landfill and the second was how
quickly it could improve its recycling performance.
The Henley Beach restaurant is part of a new partnership between Zero Waste SA and
Restaurant & Catering SA (RCSA) to improve sustainability in the hospitality sector.
Zootz Kitchen Bar was given specialist advice under Zero Waste SA’s Industry Program to
help it implement new waste management systems and to qualify for Green Table
Australia certification.
You have been assigned as Zero Waste’s Program Manager to work with Zootz and RCSA
with the program vision of attaining Green Table accreditation for Zootz.
1.1. As the Program Manager with Zero Waste SA working with Zootz Kitchen Bar you
need to promote the program vision to all the stakeholders both within Zero Waste
SA and Zootz.
a. How will you maintain alignment of the program vision with the
sponsoring organisation mission and values?
It is quite essential to promote the program vision with all the stakeholders of a project mainly
because it will help in maintaining alignment of the program with organizational mission and
values.
As a program manager, it is my responsibility to ensure that the program vision aligns with the
needs of the stakeholders. For that, it is quite essential to communicate and discuss the
project needs and project specifications with the stakeholders of the project. For aligning the
program vision with the sponsoring organization mission and values, it is necessary for the
project manager to communicate the same with the team members and the stakeholders of
the project. Absence of appropriate communication can result in improper requirement
identification and identification of the specifications of the project.
Organizational success is generally linked with the vision and mission of an organization and
therefore correct identification of the same is essential. Communication has a large impact on
alignment of strategic vision of an organization with the project. A culture of open
communication can be enforced in the project team to ensure that the project team is
following a specific requirement that is aligned with the organization mission and values.

b. How will you conduct ongoing negotiations with stakeholders to maintain
program vision?
Negotiation can be termed as a process of having a discussion with an aim of reaching to an
agreement. Negotiation in a project can take place at any time in a project and programme.
The negotiations with the stakeholders include formal negotiation.
Negotiation with the stakeholders is needed for discussing and agreeing the issues and solving
the problems associated with the project. For conducting an ongoing negotiation, it is quite
essential to know about the details of the project along with the elements and the
characteristics of the negotiation subject. Effective communication play a key role in ensuring
appropriate negotiation with the project stakeholders.
Negotiation related to program vision is associated with the alignment of the project with the
objective and mission of the organization. Therefore, appropriate project negotiations is a
necessary consideration of effective project management. Negotiations can often be strict and
therefore it is quite necessary to have a detailed information about the project needs and the
details about the stakeholders involved with the management of a project. Project
management is associated with a planned approach of project implementation and negotiation
and therefore an ongoing negotiation in the project should be carried out in a planned
manner.
c. How will you demonstrate commitment to the program vision?
Commitment to a program vision, in an organizational perspective can be a great challenge
However, commitment can be vita for ensuring appropriate functioning of the project team.
Project commitment can be developed thorough supporting behaviors of building project
management commitment. Commitment to a project vision can be easily demonstrated by
organizational values, organization and higher management, project sponsors and client of the
project.
The commitment to program vision is an important aspects of project management and it is
one of the key areas in which a project manager needs to focus. I will demonstrate
commitment to program vision by exercising the commitment building behaviors to the
project team. This include infusion of the values such as organizational values, management
of the project goals and project team members.
Demonstration of the commitment to program vision is often associated with conducting
regular meetings for understanding the mission and vision of the stakeholders. The project
plan can be developed according to the vision of the stakeholders which will in turn
demonstrate the commitment to the program vision.

It is quite essential for the project team to treat the stakeholders fairly and equitably as the
stakeholders constitutes an important aspect of project management.
Open discussions with the stakeholders of the project are needed to be facilitated in order to
ensure accurate identification of the project needs and the specifications of the project. An
open discussion with the stakeholders of the project can further help in better identification of
the major issues associated with a project. Easy identification of the project issues further
contributes to the identification of the risk mitigation approaches.
Differences in opinion of the project stakeholders is common in execution and implementation
of the project. It is important for the stakeholders to manage the differences constructively.
This can help in solving the issues in an effective manner. Identification of issues in form of an
open discussion can help in solving the major issues in a timely manner.
Thus it is quite essential for the stakeholders of the project to be treated in a fair manner.
Treating the stakeholders fairly can help in better analysis of the project needs and easier
stakeholder management. It is quite essential to manage the stakeholders of the project as
success of a project is dependent on the project stakeholders.
1.3. Explain how you will choose and apply interpersonal and leadership styles

on the circumstances while honouring realistic personal commitments?
In project management, the interpersonal and the leadership styles are applied on basis of
certain circumstances.
The interpersonal and leadership style is chosen as per the requirements and the complexities
of a project. Often it is seen that the leadership styles are based on realistic personal
commitments. It is quite essential to enforce an accurate leadership style in management of a
project as project leader has a significant role to play in management of a project.
The project leader needs to lead and motivate a project team so that the work is completed in
an expected manner.
I will choose the interpersonal and leadership style on basis of the needs and specifications of
the project. This will be in lieu to the personal commitments in the project. A project leader
should have an idea of the skill and competency of a project team member. The personal
commitments of the team members should not affect the progress of a project and therefore,
the interpersonal and leadership styles are based on the requirements and the need of a
project.
