INTRODUCTION
Sustainability refers to the process or method in which represents needs are fulfilled
without affecting the compromising ability of future generations. Sustainability plays important
role in tourism industry, which is increasing the demand in global marketplace. The tourism
industry is a leading sector and refers to the sustainable expansion. Sometimes, it is also
committed to develop lower effect on the environment and local culture at certain level. Main
purpose of this report is to analyse the different method for business planning and expansion of
sustainable. It will discuss about the role, function and mission of leading global enterprise. It
will describe the purpose and principles of tourism development in order to reduce adverse effect
of tourism. Moreover, it evaluate the process of tourism development, planning associated with
challenges in the tourism sector. However, documentation will analyse that how sustainability
which being developed or managed in wide range of tourist destination worldwide.
MAIN BODY
P1. Concept of sustainable and responsible tourism since 1980's
Tourism is defined as the act and process of spending time in pursuit of recreation,
pleasure and relaxation by using commercial products and services. Tourism helps to explore
new places and acknowledge the older places as well.
Dubai's tourism is a part of Dubai's government strategy to maintain the flow of cash in
tourism sector. In the 1980's, Dubai invested heavily in tourism development to enhance
recognition as international destinations and to diversify the economies from that time. Dubai
Commerce and Tourism Promotion Board was established in 1989 to promote Dubai as a luxury
destination so that growth and development in tourism industry is increased and people are more
attracted towards the luxurious and magnificent life Dubai offers to its travellers (Shen,
Sotiriadis and Zhou, 2020). Dubai had grown strongly in the tourism sector due to the
international tourism between 1990 and 2010. In 1997, the Board name was replaced with
Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
Developments started to take place since the last decade which has helped the tourist
enjoy the products and services that Dubai offers on large scale. The high increase in tourism
sector of Dubai, it is expanding to handle influx of new tourist and visitors. There was seen a
3.8% of increase of tourists and visitors in 2017. Dubai saw an increase in accommodation and
facilities which were provided by four and five star Hotels. Developments are as follows -

Dubai has made innovations in providing the tourist a safe and secure stay.
In this Covid -19 pandemic, Dubai ensures that their tourists and visitors are not in
contact of any type of problems which may arise due to this pandemic.
The hotels of Dubai ensure that tourists face no financial problems during their plan as
per decided under the services which are rendered by hotels.
As Dubai provides all the luxuries, it is concerns that the destinations which are selected
by the tourists or visitors have a positive impact on them and that they are more attracted
towards it by giving positive feedback as long as they stay.
Thus, these developmental factors are those aspects which focus on the economy of Dubai as
well as tourist budget to visit places in Dubai. Tourism of Dubai has overall impacted the tourist
industry with its gradual increase since the past years of tourism development.
P2. Role, function and mission of leading global organizations for promotion of tourism
Examples of two organizations which promote tourism are as follows -
Role of United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) — The organization takes
charge of promotion of responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism. The organization
promotes tourism which contributes to the economic growth and helps in grabbing more
opportunities in the tourism industry. UNWTO helps in developing the sustainability of tourism
by evolving with the innovation and developments which are made to promote tourism for the
visitors and tourists.
Functions of UNWTO — There are various functions of UNWTO which are briefed as -
UNWTO generates market knowledge.
Sustainable tourism policies are generated.
Education and training related to tourism is focused upon.
UNWTO promotes technology.
Statistical measurement tools are developed.
Leadership education is provided by UNWTO.
Education and training based on tourism is the focus of UNWTO.
Management and development of destination is focused by UNWTO.
Mission of UNWTO — Mission of United Nation World Tourism Organization is to advance
sustainable tourism development that respects and preserves the world's natural heritage.

Role of World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) — The WTTC conducts extensive
research into tourism industry. They produce Travel and Tourism economic impact reports
which include Direct and Total GDP impact, Direct and Indirect employment, Exports,
Investments. These are the roles which WTTC play in accordance to providing the tourist best of
services which are discussed in council for effective and efficient tourism industry to prosper and
grow.
Functions of UNWTO — various functions of UNWTO are as follows -
Important leaders spend time and money to move their global activity forward.
It ensures sustainable development in the tourism industry.
WTTC's research quantifies direct and total impact of Travel and Tourism on the
economy in terms of GDP and employment growth.
The WTTC functions to raise awareness to the industry and continues to feature heavily
in media and in Governments.
Mission of WTTC — Mission is to maximize inclusive and sustainable growth potential of the
Travel and Tourism sector by partnering with Governments, destinations, communities and other
stakeholders to drive economic development, reduce poverty, create job, security and
understanding in our world.
Thus, both UNWTO and WTTC organizations enhance and promote tourism and tourism
industry on large scale promotes the sustainability of what it has to offer to tourist and the
visitors in long run.
Purpose of tourism planning- Here the purpose of tourism is to introduce the tourists to their
culture, parts of city , to creates interest within the city as well as mainly promotes or advertises
the city as it raids to money for the country , city wherever the tourist visits, as these tourists
spending money to buy food,site see, purchase gifts which will economically beneficial for the
country they visit.

Utilizing resource sustainability
Reduce over consumption as well as waste as it will creates the long term damage as well as
contributes to the tourism quality as over use will adversely impact the tourism.
Maintaining biodiversity- As it can promotes social, natural as well as cultural diversity which is
considered as long term sustainable tourism as well as creates resilient base for the industry.
P3 Discuss the purpose and principles of tourism development, planning to minimise the adverse
effect of tourism.
The purpose and principles of tourism development by its nature involves the destination as
whole, not only industry business. It is also supported the ecosystems, natural resources, cultural
assets, traditions (Ruhanen and Bowles, 2020). As per selected the Dubai, which is one of the
most popular tourism destination that will attract more consumers in global marketplace.
Whereas tourism done well can advantage, benefits destination communities. A poorly
managed tourism, driven by long term and short term which has been disrupted communities and
ecosystem. Nowadays, it has been rapidly increasingly the demand of effective policies and
procedures. It emphasis on the quantity of tourist over quality of experience, benefits to the
destination communities.
Principles of tourism development in order to minimise effect of tourism-
Use sustainability standards- Generally, it respect the publicly available, internationally
approved minimise criteria for sustainable tourism practices. It will help for maintaining
the global sustainable tourism council for both industry and destinations.
Collaboration in the destination management- The tourism enterprise seek to develop a better
tourism through collaborative management structure (Ferrer-Roca and et.al., 2020). There are
equal participation by government and other private sector. Sometimes, it is also representing the
diversity in the social communities.
Select or choose quality over quantity- A tourism communities are mainly focused on the
manage or control the better quality of visitation. This will help for enhancing travel
experience while sustaining destination and provide the better advantage or benefits for
local communities.

problems,
Being a trainee manager of a Destination Management Organisation (DMO), which is
mainly focused on the tourism development and planning. It is define planning process of
identifying the objectives and evaluating the methods of achievements. Manager of DMO
enterprise is to consider all essential resources, markets and other program or events. This will
help for identifying the different problems and challenges associated with development or
planning process of tourism.
The local and cost Rica government plays important role in the tourism planning or
development. It has been implemented the effective policies or procedures for development of
such activities or sustainability in regions (Hamid, Isa and Kiumarsi, 2020). This is consider as
initial stage in planning for use of resources and management of tourist relationship. Tourism
manager has been setup particular guidelines and policies on the basis to create an effective plan
and then offers the various benefits such as packages, stay etc. For Example- Dubai is one of the
most powerful tourism destination that will attract more potential consumers.
Challenges and problems-
Conflict of interest arise as different stakeholders which may have different and conflicting
interests. Various stakeholders in Cost Rica tourism may have identified the interest in the local
government. The conservation of natural resources along with proper distribution among
different sectors. The involvement of stakeholders must involve in the planning and development
of sustainable tourism activities (Yeonga, Sandhua and Anak, 2020). A conflict among
stakeholders are considered the biggest issue or problem which is directly affecting the tourism
destination attraction. Moreover, individual people needs to be included an appropriate benefits,
advantage in society as through increases in living standards, cleaner or better environment.

adopt current trends to attract more consumers.
Environmental Factor- in this factor, it can be measured or evaluated the environmental
price, cost. Main objective of this factor is to measure forecast environmental effects of tourism
development actions. It is concerned about the significant impacts help for avoiding the potential
risks threat by implementing essential measures. This factor is related the current environment
condition because tourist destination face atmosphere degradation such as increases the pollution
rate. Through this factor, it is helping to gather information and understand environmental effect
on the different plans. Tourism destination can identify any disturbance in ecology, socially and
environmentally. These are directly impacts on the surroundings and people.
Economic Factor- this factor is helping to the tourist manager to measure critical
