Sustainable Tourism Development in Qatar: A Comprehensive Analysis_2

INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism is referred to as the formation of maintaining the balance between
the socio-cultural, economic and environmental dimensions of the tourism development
that have a significant role in the preference of the biodiversity. This enhances the
tourism contribution in the biodiversity conservation and poverty reduction so that the
common objective and goal can be attained in the context of the sustainable
development (Bunakov, et al. 2015). This can be also referred to as the stage and level
of the activity of tourism that is focused for the long term as it provides benefit to the
economic, natural, social and cultural environments.
This assignment gives the deep insights about the development of the sustainable
tourism in reference to Qatar. Qatar has launched the Strategy of the Qatar National
Tourism strategy for the sustainable tourism development. The sports tourism has
brings the unity among the people of that country. Qatar is one of the developing
countries in the world which have a major focus on the tourism industry. This report also

TASK 1- LEAFLET
1.1
Sustainable tourism development plan
and its successful implementation are
dependent on the tourism stakeholders.
The major stakeholders for the Qatar
destination involve investors, tourists,
developers, operators, employee,
shareholders, local community,
government and local people etc. Thus
for each and every success, there is the
involvement of major people and for
making Qatar a country for the
sustainable development and the host of
various events there is an enormous
role of the Qatar stakeholders. They
help in achieving the goals of Qatar
regarding sustainable tourism
development (Poudel, et al. 2016).

Qatar sustainable tourism planning aims
at increasing the quality and standard of
life that is very beneficial for the tourists
that visit there. This helps in providing
the valuable and important experience
to the tourist. Tourists will also get the
economic benefit by getting the tour
packages at minimum costs because
Qatar is aiming at the development of
the tourism (Saufi, et al. 2014).
Social benefits to the local people of
Qatar involve the improvement of the
quality of life of the local community.
Looking at the economic benefits they
render the many employment
opportunities to the local people due to
the tourism activities. As Qatar is
building more hotels in the country that
will help in proving the more jobs and
open the doors for the small business.
The society will also benefit as Qatar is
focusing at the taking care of the natural
and environmental resources.
The employees will also get the social
and economic benefits as Qatar is
aiming at the sustainable tourism so the
employees will also get the benefit of
salary, incentives and wages to the
entire staff and workers (Saufi, et al.
2014).

Qatar sustainable tourism authority also
provides the good returns to the
investors and shareholders as they are
focusing on may strategies that will also
benefit the investors (Poudel, et al.
2016).
1.2
Public and private tourism planning
partners are the public and private
sector partners that help in the
attainment of the long-term goal of the
sustainable tourism at Qatar. In the
country of Qatar, partners of the public
and private sectors help in the
sustainable tourism development of
Qatar (Poudel, et al. 2016). The public
and private sector partnerships in the
context of Qatar benefit to the all
involved parties with the alignment of
the goals and resources. These are the
important partnerships between the
private sector, corporate investors and
public sector organizations for the
determination of planning, conception,
funding, supply and construction of the
equipment for the development of the
infrastructure in Qatar (Sharpley and
Telfer, 2015).
Advantages of public and private sector
tourism planning partnerships at Qatar:
With the help of the PPPs, Government
of Qatar will be able to perform the cost
economy for the maintaining and
operating the services and also for the
constructions of the projects. For
example, as the increasing demand for
tourism in Qatar, there are more
requirements of the hotel so PPPs will
help in the cost reduction for these
projects (Sharpley and Telfer, 2015).
As QTA is focusing to recognise Qatar
as the World class tourism destination
so the partnerships with the public and
private sector will provide the innovation
in the delivery of the service in an
organised way and also improve the
current level of the service.
The partnership with the public and
private sector will allow in the creating
the awareness of the sustainable
tourism planning and its need. For
example, QTA and its partners in the
private and public sector are organising

the events for training for all involved
stakeholders that will create the
awareness of the tourism impact and
the sustainable practices need (Poudel,
et al. 2016).
Disadvantages of public and private
sector tourism planning partnerships at
Qatar:
There will be more involvement of the
PPPS in the decision making that will
lose the control of the government. For
example, in Qatar, the involvement of
the public and private sector partners
will have the effect on the prices and
services.
There will be the labour disputes and
financial problems due to the PPS at
Qatar as this will hamper the smooth
delivery of the services.
There will be a reduction in the quality
and service efficiency, For example, the
government of Qatar will not be able to
the get benefit from the partners as it
reduces the quality of services offered
and there will be the lack of inefficiency
(Weber, 2017).
