1 Introduction
Main objective of this project is design a local area network to support the windows
server and client environment for Think Tank Company. This company is a Sydney based
small and medium sized enterprise. It has 10 computers in the office and it planned to open
up a new branch in Melbourne and it will be connected to head quarter in Sydney. So, they
the new staff buy a new machines and printers and also they need to centralize the
authorization, data location and authentication. So, it can e shared across the branches.
Therefore, we are create the local area network to support the window server and client
environment for Think tank company, The accompanying LAN administrations and the
proposed arrangement of the LAN network of hierarchical unit for their expertize area, which
shall consist of print server for clients, centralized client validation, naturally receiving the IP
addresses from the server and facilitating their own site with the help if their own server. We
shall discuss all the above topics and analyze each one of them in this project.
2 Requirement Analysis and Identification
2.1 Centralized User Authentication
The incorporated client validation will make use of the Active directory utilization.
The various functions that this will fulfill will include the following,
 To provide area and directory administrations for windows space sort outs.
 Consolidating social occasions of administrations and techniques.
 Keep up with the combined pace organization.
 Used to get the favor and approval of all the Personal Computers and customers.
 For all the customers, approving and checking all security related functions.
Area controller is the running of the Active directory space advantage. It will check
the submitted mystery word from the customers and for identifying whether the customer
runs the mill type or a regulator, making the Active directory to be on a very basic level.
For checking if the customer is common and supervisor, it uses the part of endorsement and
approval.
For giving the endorsement and affirmation, it permits limited information and
organization.
Area controller also has the task of setting up the various types of the administrations which
includes the following,

It is mainly utilized for developing the windows server system, it refers to a directory

purpose of Active directory adventure and before it was the only dealing with the united area
organization.
Purposes of interest of Active directory
 It has balance amidst the Active Directory and LDAP Directory Services, it allows
the creation and furthermore management of the username and Password.
 With the use of username and mystery state that are used in other place, it allows a
single customer to login.
 Improves the workstation security segment
 By using standardization it can assist in reducing the overheads.
 It increases the flexibility
 Through the bound together organization limit, improve the speed of

 It offers base to the process with Active Directory in terms of administration i.e.,
Exchange and SharePoint.
3 Configuration Process Description and Screenshots
3.1 Active Directory Server
Installation of the active directory on server manager by the user is carried out in the
Active directory configuration.

Before installation [2],you need to click the next option In below wizard
“Role based” should be next selected after the installation,

From the server pool option, select the server type.
Next, select the Active directory domain services option and then press the “next”,

Click on the AD DS option as per the image shown below,
To start the installation process, click on the install button,

This will successfully complete the installation process.
Active directory configuration
From the Left side of the server manager page, click on the AD DS option to initialize
the active directory configuration.
