study on TESCO.
Talent management is about hiring, selecting and motivating the workforce so that they work with company for
longer duration. It helps in motivating the workforce so that they work for the growth of the organization in an efficient
manner. Currently, the companies are facing issues of high employee’s turnover that put a direct impact on their goodwill in
the market place (Dweck and Molden, 2017). The present study is based on TESCO that is a well-known organization
based on London. It is a prestigious organization, headquartered in London, UK. The report aims to analyze the importance
of talent management in the company. Further, it will analyze the impact of talent management on motivation of the
employees along with the strategies to retain employees for longer duration.
Aim: “To evaluate relation between effective talent management and employee retention”. A case study on TESCO.
Research Objectives:

Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you are studying, personal interest,
future plans, knowledge/skills you want to improve, why the topic is important):
Presently, staff members are considered as the crucial part of the business as they have potential to contribute in the
success of the company successfully. Employees are the most significant asset of the business entity who is likely to
perform the assigned duties with utmost efficiency and appropriateness so that the organization can accelerate in the
competitive environment. The present study is helpful in analyzing the impact of talent management strategies on the
retention and performance of the employees. (Hattie, Hodis and Kang, 2020). The main rational of the study is to develop
significant talent management strategies to keep the employees motivated and retain them for future period of time. In
personal context, it will allow the researcher to gain significant knowledge on staff motivation and retention that is
important to ensure career growth in future.

According to Negi & Patel, 2021, talent management is crucial to motivate the workforce in an efficient manner.
Motivation develops willingness among the employees and inspires them to undertake their responsibilities in best possible
way. If an employee is motivates, it boost the level of satisfaction which is imperative to perform the assigned work in an
efficient manner. In addition, motivated people are the useful assets of the entity as they have the capabilities to contribute
in the success of the company efficiently. In addition to this, talent management is also helpful in retaining the workforce
for longer duration. It allows to hire, select and place the right person at the right place so that the company can attain
tremendous amount of growth and success. In addition to this talent management facilitates sustainable development of
workforce by improving their overall level of commitment and loyalty towards the organization. Additionally, effective
implementation of talent management strategies makes the employee enable to perform the assigned work with maximum
dedication, diligence that is imperative to accomplish the organization goals and objectives within stipulated period of time
(Chamberlin, Yasué and Chiang, 2018).
Impact of talent management on employee motivation
According to Billouz 2021, talent management has a profound impact on the employee motivation by using
necessary monetary and non monetary techniques. For this purpose, companies run motivation schemes where they use
different monetary and non-monetary ways to inspire the workforce to get the work done in timely manner. In this context,
it is imperative to know the needs and requirements of the employees so that the managers can easily encourage them to
perform the roles and responsibilities in an appropriate way. Now, there are various non-monetary ways such as rewards,
acknowledgment and more which are also used to enhance the level of motivation of workforce. These motivation schemes
put a profound impact on the potential of the employees and also prove helpful for the company in terms of enhancing the
overall efficiency and effectiveness. In addition to this, motivated employees constantly put efforts for the success of the
business entity. They play a crucial role in improving the overall productivity and profitability of the company that is
important in order to gain success in the future period of time. Further, motivation schemes are not about enhancing salary,
providing incentives but it is about boosting the morale of the employees so that they consider themselves as a crucial part
of the company. In addition to this, staff motivation schemes leads towards higher intrinsic and extrinsic motivation which
further improves the productivity and enhances the loyalty level of the employees. With this, the workforce get encourage to

perform the organizational tasks appropriately that also makes their strong presence at the workplace. It motivates the
employees to stay within the same company for longer period of time.
Relation of employee retention and talent management strategies
According to the view point of Ashton, 2018, talent management strategies have a profound impact on the retention of the
employees by enhancing their performance level efficiently. If companies implement effective talent management
approaches, it makes employees feel that they are being consider as an important part of the company hence put maximum
effort to make the organization successful. In this context, the organizations are likely to adopt various motivational
schemes related to monetary and non-monetary aspects so that they can generate willingness among the employees to do the
work for the betterment of the company. For this purpose, organizations are likely to offer regular incentive to the
employees to stay in the organization for longer period of time. It is said that employees have a profound contribution in the
profit of the organization hence they are eligible to get some part of this profit. Here, profit sharing fulfils the monetary
requirements of workforce and also makes them feel that the company is considering their efforts. In this light, training and
development can be understood as another significant way to minimize the issue of high employee’s turnover within the
respective entity (Wardani and et. al., 2020). Training and development is helpful in improving the overall efficiency and
effectiveness of the workforce so that they can contribute in the growth and success of the entity in an efficient manner.
