 Agenda of the presentation is to help in gaining an understanding of strategies for enhancing the
quality of health and social care services in Royal London Hospital ( Barts NHS Health Trust).

 In order to ascertain delivery of quality health and social care services, it is essential for any health
care organization to abide by prevalent policies, regulations and standards.
 In regards to Royal London Hospital (Barts NHS Health Trust) it can be noticed that, it is lagging
behind in abiding to certain standards of care like ensuring safety and responsiveness while
delivering care services.
 Focus of the presentation would be on:
 existing standards for delivering standard health and social care services
 strategies that can be implemented for enhancing quality in health and social care
 barriers that may be experienced by Royal London Hospital (Barts NHS Health Trust) in delivering
quality management system.
Introduction

 On analyzing the care services delivered by Barts NHS Health Trust, two major areas for providing with quality care services
can be seen to be missing.
 In order to improve these areas of care services, standards that are needed to be abided by it are:
 National Institute for Health and Care excellence (NICE) standards- NICE standards, helps in identifying the areas of
development and quality improvement while delivering care services.
 Care services in which, there have been a variation of care, can be identified with the help of NICE standards in Barts NHS
Health Trust (Soltanifar and Russell, 2012).
 Hence, Barts NHS Health Trust would be able to identify areas of care service in which there has been diversion in regards
to standards like safety by abiding to NICE standards.
 CQC standards- This standard is needed to be mentioned here. It provide with standards like emphasis on person centred
care, ascertaining dignity and respect, emphasis on elements like consent and safety in the process of delivering care
services.
 Aiding to these standards would also help in enhancement of quality of care services in Barts NHS Health Trust by
identifying areas of services where diversion has occurred from the mentioned CQC standards like safety (Glasper, 2015.)
Standards that exist in health and social care
organisations

 National Minimum Training Standards for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers
in England- Under the standard, the minimum knowledge needed by health care professionals
irrespective of individual role, has been specified.
 This standard helps in measuring the performance and human resources of Royal London Hospital
at the induction and recruitment process (Reeve et al., 2013).

index through models of quality measurement in the organization.
 Quality control strategies- Quality control strategies, can help in significant conclusion regarding the
development of organizational performance and commitment for attaining quality care delivery
(Tricco et al., 2012).
 It would be effective in identifying areas of care delivery where safety and responsiveness is
lacking and initiate necessary strategies to resolve it in Barts NHS Health Trust.
 TQM- With the help of TQM, managers of Barts NHS Health Trust would be assisted regarding policy
formulation, planning and procedures.
 TQM would also help in enhancing monitoring, auditing and reviewing performance index.
(Nwabueze, 2011 ).
Strategies for implementing
quality in health and social care

 There types of barriers that may be experienced by Barts NHS Health Trust are:
 Employee resistance to change- as they may be threatened regarding the changes brought in the
functioning of Barts NHS Health Trust because of the fear of unknown and the need to cope up.
 Poor training- Lack of effective training being provided to the health professionals acts as another
major barrier for them to be aware about the changes in the strategies and abide by it.
 Insufficient funds- If there is limitation of funds, even on application of TQM for enhancing the
quality of care services delivered by Barts NHS Health Trust, it cannot be effectively managed .
 This would result in acting as a major barrier in enhancing the quality of care services and issues in
Barts NHS Health Trust, which may be experienced by its healthcare officer.
Potential barriers that may be experienced by
healthcare official

 In order to addressing the care needs of service users, providing them with quality care services are
needed.
 In order to deliver quality care services, Royal London Hospital is needed to abide by prevalent
standards of service delivery.
 In order to continuously develop the quality of service, incorporating required strategies and
overcoming the present barriers would be required.
