Various types of motivational theory adopted by Jack Discount Stores Maslow's Need Hierarchy came into existence in the year 1943 by Abraham Maslow. This theory has five stages and human assets has ascending hierarchy of needs. can be satisfied. If esteem needs are not meetfeeling of inferiority emerge in employees. By which unproductive results are attained Self-actualizing Needs:It covers what we are doing and what we feel should actually meant to do. Employees of Jack Stores given chance to realize their actual need so that they can be made satisfied.Example: Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Dyson, Simon Cowell etc. are some of self- actualized individual. By giving examples of this personality workers can be motivated for discovering self actualizing needs and identify ways to attain them. Advantages : Jack Discount Stores is a new venture which is started by Tesco. As Maslow is easy to understand so it's execution can be done smoothly. Theory designed by Abraham Maslow is relevant in all field of Jack Discount Stores because the level of hierarchy can be adopted in both personal and professional life. Limitations: One of the main limitation of Maslow theory is every individual is different from each other. As it have negative impact onworking style of employees which turnto impact over performance of Jack Discount Stores is (King and Kelly, 2019). There is difficulty faced by Jack Discount Stores in measuring hierarchy need of the employees Vroom's Expectancy Theory In the year 1964, Victor Vroom who was a Canadian professor of psychology designed thistheory.ExpectancyTheoryisdependentonthreefactorswhichare,Expectancy, Instrumentality and Valence. To calculatemotivationalforce Victor Vroom uses a formula which is, Motivational Force= Expectancy x Instrumentality x valence The brief explanation of this points are done as follows: Expectancy:Itisrelatedtoemployeesselfeffortsandisassociatedwithgood performance. Jack stores is lunched by Tesco in order to compete with Aldi and Lidl. Here, sub- ordinates of firm are motivated by providing them various incentives and benefits like, holiday package, solo trip, family vacation, gifts, cheques and so on if they complete the assign task in the set deadline. By they can be encourage to perform better and competitive advantages against rivalry can be gained easily (Munaro and Katoi, 2019). 3
Instrumentality:In this case, staff member think that whether they will be able to achieve what they desire ifpromise is done by manger of the company.Jack Discount is launched by Tesco and theirmanagement want thatnew candidates needs must be better understood by taking them review and feedback regarding their self interest, vision, carrier objective etc. so that they can be encouraged to perform better. By this can easily compete with rivalry. To raise productivity level management must assure them that top levelmanagement are aware about the promise made to the their employees and will be full-filled accordingly. Illustration2: Vroom's Expectancy Theory, 2020 Source: Vroom's Expectancy Theory, 2020 Valence:This is stated with depth of the desire of the staff members for intrinsic (satisfaction) and extrinsic (promotion, benefits, incentives, time-off ) and many more. The newly launched Jack Discount Stores should understand their recruited workers perception what they value more work or money. After identifying what workers value money or workpolicies can be framed accordingly to meet them. If customer value money then various rewards like, 4
holiday trip, gifts, solo trip etc. are provided to them. Whereas, workers value work more as compare to money then they are assigned more job roles and responsibilities. So that they can be forced to work more hard in order to create tough bench mark forAldi and Lidl in the global market. Advantages: It mainly focuses on perception and expectancyof employees so Jack Discount Stores can frame strategies to retain them in the company for longer time duration. This theory puts more emphasizes on reward so it is beneficial for Jack Discount Stores because they can raise their workforce efficiency by giving them proper reward for their work performance. Vroom's theory work more towards attaining maximum pleasure and least pain for individual (Nuradiana and Sobari, 2019).This theory will help Jack Discount Stores to back their skilled employees as less pain is given to them. Limitations: Rewards are given on this basis of job skills in jack Discount Stores then employees who perform better based on leadership qualities gets demotivate. It is difficult to measure value and efforts of the employees invested to complete the task assigned by Jack Stores. So the accuracy of the expectancy theory is not always high it is low in many cases. CONCLUSION From the above discussion it can be concluded that motivation plays a significant role in retaining potential employees over the years. Through motivation overall workforce efficiency of co-workers can be raised at rapid scale which is a positive mark for the business in the competitive market place. Various motivational theory like, Maslow's Hierarchy of Need and Vroom's expectancy theory are studied deeply so that friendly relationship can be build in the workingpremisesandputshumanresourceintoaction.Differentorganizationexecute motivational theory according to their business structure so that they can compete with rivalry prevailing in the global market. 5
