EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Teamworking is undertaken as the successful capability of an enterprise or an organisation
regarding the growth and development of an organisation. It is also beneficial in order to enhance
the overall productivity of company as successful teamwork is important regarding the
engagement of employees and proper wellbeing in order to retain them for the longer period of
time. For the effective teamwork, proper communication, delegation, efficiency, support and
creative ideas are important to maintain the productivity of company. Team work is the
collaborative effort of group in terms of achieving the common objective regarding the
completion of task in an effective and efficient manner. The overall objective of this report is
analyse the benefits and importance of teamworking by identifying the current trends in the retail
sector and also conduct proper research in order to collect data in an effective manner.

INTRODUCTION
Background of study
Effective teamwork is important at the workplace in order to deal from the stressful
situations and also make sure that team members will stick together instead of turning on each
other as an outlet for the frustration. Teams who work together are more likely to perform
effectively in stressful situations (Demir, McNeese and Cooke, 2017). Effective teamwork is
critical in the retail but for these managers need to understand the significance of teamwork in
order to direct their subordinates effectively.
Company overview
For this research the selected company is Sainsbury’s which is situated in London and also
the largest supermarket that deals in selling qualitative products in the sole and also offer their
commodities at the reasonable prices. Respective company was founded in 1869 by John James
Sainsbury with the name of Drury Lane at London.
Rationale of study
The reason behind for conducting the research is to motivate and encourage employees to
work in a team by developing relations among them as it is beneficial for both employees and
Organisation as well (Gurung and Prater, 2017). It is also identified that there are various
benefits of teamwork and it is also important to positively impact the performance and
productivity of an organisation.
