Technology innovation and impact on globalization:
Globalization is the process of sharing information, culture, economics and business between
countries and societies around the world. It is not possible to ensure complete development
for a country without association with other countries. A country does not have equal
development in every aspects which is needed for ensuring complete development. While
some countries have stronger technologic development, some countries are good in
agricultural development, some countries have cultural value to share with other nations.
Hence exchange of technological, cultural, economical values are extremely important. For
example if a country is good at technology, exchange of technology will help other countries
which are good at agriculture with increase in production. This will enrich both the countries.
Hence globalization is important for countries around the world. technology has helped
countries throughout the world to innovate and make globalization truly global and providing
opportunities for countries to contribute in global context.
Earlier sharing information even within local geographical boundaries was a great challenge,
sharing information throughout the world was something not less than a sci-fi story. It often
took days and week, even without any assurance that whether the recipients will receive the
message sent to them. This was because sharing of information was mostly manual,
predominantly through letters written in the paper. The invention of telegram brought a
drastic change the way communication was being conducted before it. It reduced sharing of
message significantly, though nowhere compared to today's standard where the message is
delivered within a second. However, communication with telegraph was not that efficient to
facilitate global communication required for efficient globalisation. The innovation of the
telephone, however, took communication to another level which might be considered as a
significant achievement in the process of global communication. Communication with the
telephone was better, still, there were issues such as communication interference, noise in

communication, less reliable when demand for communication is higher. Hence further
enhancement of telephone technology was required which provided the context of the
development of the modern smartphone, which is only an important component of global
communication, an essential requirement too.
Today it is possible to communicate with the world within seconds and it seems obvious.
However, this took a lot of time and innovation before the smartphone become something
that it is today. Without technological innovation and technological advancement, it was not
possible to develop a smartphone in today standard. As smartphone has become so much
advanced, it is innovation that has made it possible to reduce size as well as price of
smartphone, which has made it easier to own a smartphone. Reduction of cost has not only
achieved in smartphone only, cost for computer has also reduced as well. Ease of
accessibility to smartphone and computer is responsible for enhancing communication
between countries. While considering globalization, it is important to note that
communication is an essential requirement in this context.
Although the smartphone came to the market a lot later, it was the internet that might be
thought as the real contender of candidate technology for globalization. Without the
innovation of the internet, much of today's globalization was not possible to achieve, such as
the importance of this technology.
With the internet, it is possible to gather information from the world and that too from one
place. Today the internet has made access to global information lot easier and efficient as
well. Today searching information about anything is so easy and it requires literally no time
to get result for the search. Hence, it is possible for people to look for opportunities and
analyze different options that is consistent with their needs.

Previously when technology was not so developed not possible people to know about
different job opportunities is available in the market. However today technology has made it
easier to search for different job not just within their region but from the world as well.
Hence, opportunities for hon has increased helping different countries to exchange human
resources and enhancing development through globalization of skill force. Job recruiters just
need to post about their job description and required skill set. Candidates looking for job has
option to search for these jobs through various website specific to this.
Earlier talent was just limited to within nations and it is often seen that nations are not
sufficient to evaluate those talents either due to lack of resource or infrastructure. However
technology has made it easier to exchange skills between nations which has provided context
for development of global skill force through extension of job opportunities.
Previously it was a computer that provided this facility and this was affordable. However,
innovation in this regard has made computers not only more accessible but portable too.
Today smartphone does most of the things that previously even a standard computer was not
able to execute. This has defined the possibility of mobile and affordable computing.
Smartphone when combined with the internet, literally brings the world within reach, thus
facilitate globalization with aces to global information with ease.
Socialization is another important aspect of globalization. The innovation of social media is
an important achievement in this regard. Today through social media people interact with
others beyond boundaries. This facilitates the exchange of cultural values, ideas which enrich
cultural communication. Exchange of cultural values is an important requirement to ensure
globalization because globalization is football about the exchange of economics and business,
which is required but it is not the only thing that matters. Today social media has become
significant to the outcome to share interesting information about the world that not only

enriches the knowledge of others, it also offers an exchange of knowledge between people
irrespective of their geographic location facilitating globalization.
Television is another important innovation that should be considered for analyzing the impact
of technological innovation on globalization. Even before the innovation of the internet,
television was the most popular medium to know about global news, however, it does not
mean that the importance of television has reduced. Through television important incidents
around the world is known thus providing to identify opportunities and benefits for people
around the world.
Technology has not only helped in exchange for global news, information and culture, but it
has also helped in economic globalization as well.
Without the application of technology, it is not possible for organizations to establish
themselves as a global organization. It has thus helped them to increase the economic scale
and establish equal access to the global market. Equality in the global market is required to
promote globalization and without the application of technology, it is not possible to achieve.
Cost for global transportation combined with the cost for global communication has been a
significant issue in the development of economic globalization.
However, technology has helped in reducing the cost of global transportation. Earlier when
smart transport system such as high-speed trains, airplanes were not available, it took months
to travel from one country to another which made business with global countries difficult.
Now with innovation in transportation it is not difficult to travel between various countries
and that too within a day, which is remarkable achievement of technology. Reduction in
travel time has provided new opportunities for global business and industrial development.
Along with that, it has also made global communication affordable to ensure global access.
This helps in the sourcing of raw materials globally along with other important input required

for industrialization. To ensure that the organization who develops a particular technology
gets the maximum benefits of that and is not affected due to globalization, the patent for
technology is provided. When a particular technology is patented, it allows the owner of the
technology to exploit the foreign market without much competition from other foreign
organizations of the market.
Globalisation is also about promoting quality education so that people around the world learn
effectively. Application of technology such as the internet and website has allowed accessing
quality educational materials and that too without any cost, making quality education
affordable and accessible. Now people from anywhere who have access to the internet is able
to learn without any restriction, creating a global educational platform making the exchange
of education and knowledge effective and efficient as well. As knowledge is distributed
without any restriction, it also brings context for cultural innovation and cultural
enhancement through the promotion of global education through the creation and distribution
of ideas and knowledge through digital platforms. Without technological innovation, this is
not possible to establish and ensure effective globalization.
The innovation of technology has redefined the concept of a global village that was earlier
limited to conceptualization only. Due to this, time and place were two important constraints
in the global business process. It was not possible to exchange business process without
considering these constraints. However, the innovation of technology, especially the
development of the world wide web has made it possible to execute business without these
constraints as it is possible to do a business deal from anywhere at any time. Transaction in
business is possible within seconds even buyers and sellers are from two different countries.
This has truly made business more global and has enhanced efficiency as well.

As discussed earlier, globalization is not effective if everyone does not have equal access to
market opportunities through an economic and technological exchange that the business or
the industries provide. Earlier computing resources were only available to developed
countries where advanced infrastructure was available and there were various reasons for
that. Hence they had a comprehensive market share in the global business without fair
competition. Now the development of cloud computing has completely changed this scenario.
Cloud computing allows accessing advance computing without the requirement for investing
in infrastructure development which has been a major issue for most of the developed country
looking for enhancing their business process through the application of computing and
technology. There were lack of proper infrastructure because developing infrastructure
requires skilled workforce and huge investment, especially when considering the
development and application in national infrastructure. However, various parameters decide
how organization develop their technical expertise. It is not that technology was not available
to other countries, but the problem was that while some countries had larger control over
infrastructure development due to financial resources, some countries were not even close to
that in terms of development and application of technology for enhancing economy. This
created a difference on global aspect and it even lack innovation due to lack of countries
participating the development process. Hence, there was need for reducing this difference in
the global market and allowing other countries to participate in the process as well. This
required ease of sharing technology and expertise along with economic assistance that is
required for this development as well. Innovation like cloud computing has helped to acquire
advance computing technology to develop products that has potential to have impact on
global scale. This include cloud enabled application which are possible to deploy on the
cloud server without developing server at all as virtualized server is provided to cloud
services. The idea of providing computing services through internet and that too on demand

and according to requirements is indeed a revolutionary idea, which could not have been
possible without innovation in technology.
In a developed country, technology is available, but the cost for labour is higher than the
developing country, which makes it difficult for them to reduce cost in infrastructure
development. Now in a developing country, the cost for labour is lower but the availability of
advanced technology is a major issue. Therefore, this presents an ideal context for the
exchange of technology as developed countries look for the cheap workforce so that return on
investment is higher. As developing countries offer labour resources at a competitive cost,
developed countries look for collaboration with less developed countries. This presents an
opportunity for these countries to outsource labour services to developing countries. Now
innovation in technology allows both of these countries to work in close association and
deliver services. This boost economy of the outsourced country. An important requirement of
establishing globalization is to allow for equal development through exchanges of economy,
technology and human resources. Outsourcing is one significant medium for the exchange of
human resource, which without technological innovation is not possible to execute. Hence,
this has a powerful impact on globalization.
However, while assessing the impact of technology on globalisation, it is important to note
that it has brought certain security issues that have somehow compromised the proper
application of technology on globalisation. Data security has become an important issue in
this regard. In order to have competitive advantages, countries often try to steal trade
information, defence information so that they have control over other countries. Now, this
creates a difference between countries and inspires to execute strategies that are not only
illegal but also ethically not justified. This makes globalization less impactful as it provides
context for the development of countries while creating opportunities for strengthening
economic, social and human development. Hence technology should not consider illegal

means such as having important data from other countries as this violates their privacy and
this should be avoided while creating relationships with other countries through exchange of
technology for ensuring effective globalisation. However, technology is not responsible for
violating principles of globalization, rather technology should be regulated and applied
properly to ensure effective globalisation through the efficient application of technology.
