Company History Tesco was founded by Jack Cohen in the year 1919. He started with the market stall in London and the name of Tesco appeared firstly in the year 1924 when Jack purchased the shipment of a tea. Then in the year 1931, the first shop of Tesco was opened in Barnet and rapidly the business started to expand and in the year 1939 there were approximately 100 shops in the whole country.
