INTRODUCTION In the current scenario, different change management tools are adopted by differentbusiness organisations to cope up and deal with challenges that prevail in an organisation. Adeveloping manager is a designation that deals with crafting and developing skills andknowledge of their employees which help them to grow in business and achieve personal andprofessional goals as well as objectives effectively. This report has compared two organisationswhere one is Thomas Cook and the other is TUI(Abrahamsson, 2017). Both the organisationshave different types of management systems that focus on increasing their standard and servicesfor meetings customer's demand as well as satisfying employees of their organisation. . Further,this report has defined management skills and analysed their potential through SWOT analysisfor Clayton Crown Hotel, London which is considered as a renowned brand of Dalata HotelGroup.TASK 11.1 Different management stylesIn the present scenario, tourism industry is developing at a fast pace and for some time,now they are adding more revenue to GDP of United Kingdom. . This report includes Frankie &Benny's restaurant which is about to start in Stanford, London(Aulton and Taylor, 2017). Role ofmanager in achievement of targeted goals and objectives is also discussed here along withjustification of management role in achievement of desired target and certain recommendationsare given for improving the business as well. Thomas Cook and TUI are known for deliveringbetter, faster and efficient products. They are successful in tourism business because they haveadoptedbetter management style and made strategies accordingly. Different management stylesare discussed here as below:Coercive management style – This is regarded as direct leadership style in this leadersgives command or direct their employees. They have overall control and responsibility of allfactors and decision making(Allen, 2012). So, all the power of strategic and operationalmanagement lies in leader’s hand. TUI Tourism Company follows this kind of leadership ormanagement style for running their business. This style of management bounds employees asthey are not expressive in their work.

Active style of management This management style is more effective. It allowsemployees required freedoms as well as to express their thoughts. Employees are well supportedon their professional which includes enhancing their skill and knowledge and on individual levelalso motivation or monitory help. Thomas Cook and Sons Company follows this type ofmanagement style to sustain in competitive market(Arnold and Boggs, 2015). He believe thatgiving values to their employee help in generating a trustworthy environment hence help inprosperity of an organisation. Managers also organise certain seminars, gives motivationspeeches which will positively influence an employee to work and achieve their goals.1.2 Different characteristics of leadership Thomas Cook and Sons company is very old and the biggest organisation in travelindustry. Managers of this organisation keep their staffs motivated and target oriented. Amanager must possess different qualities in management of tourism industry. These qualities arelike: Friendly behaviour – Being a junior consultant, I can suggest top level managers tobehave and their employees like friends, this will give values to each individual hence helps inbuilding a strong relationship among them, this helps in creating a positive and healthyenvironment inside the organisational culture(Babbie, 2013). This will also allow theiremployees to express their thoughts and problems which helps the managers to analyse everyaspect and take suitable decisions. Communication skills – This is another important skill that a manager must possess. Aneffective communication skill helps a manager to transfer information with suitablecommunication medium. In dealing with all employees, a manager must be calm and composedwhich help them to influence their employees. Motivation – As a consulting person, I can suggest management to timely motivate andinfluence their employees so that they will remain target oriented and hence, will improve theirmorale and performance. Focussed and disciplined – Management of discipline in an organisation helps in gettingcompetitive advantage in . Discipline allows an organisation to maintain their structuredframework as well as provide resonance and coordination between them. 4
