THE IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE ON EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION: A CASE
STUDY OF ORGANIZATIONS IN BHUTAN
Introduction
The business environment can be understood to be very dynamic
in nature and with respect to this, the organization experiences a
dynamic force which influences the overall organizational culture
of the firm. Hence, if the culture of the organization is affected, it
tends to have an impact on the overall work ethics of the people
which in return influences the overall employee motivation of the
different people as present (Alvesson and Sveningsson 2015).
These are the overall customs which have been designed for the
firm and play a role in the overall operational efficiency of the
organization. The organizational culture has the capability to
impact the overall employee motivation and based on the culture,
the behavior of the employees can be determined accordingly
(Ryan and Deci 2000). For this reason, when the employee
motivation of a firm is impacted then in such a case, the
productivity gets affected (Bryson, Alex, and Michael White 2019).
This research is aimed at understanding the overall impact of the
organizational culture of the various organizations in Bhutan to
find their impact on the employee motivation of the employees in
the firm. Recently, there have been several cases of employee
turnover at Bhutan and hence, a study of their motivation will be
helpful in understanding the overall scenario of the place.

Literature Review
Organizational culture
The Organizational culture is a set of underlying beliefs, the ways
as well as assumptions which are adopted by an organization. It
helps the organization in communicating with the different
employees as present and additionally contributes to the overall
psychological ambience of a firm. The culture comprises of the
values of the founding members of the firm (Driskill 2018).
According to Bortolotti, Boscari, and Danese (2015), the
organizational culture is often also known as the company culture,
workplace culture or the corporate culture of the employees.
Employee Motivation
The employee motivation is the level of commitment which the
employees portray in an organization and tends to determine the
overall manner in which the firm is impacted by the willingness of
the employees to perform well (Lăzăroiu 2015). Whether the firm is
performing well or not, it is the duty of the firm to contribute
effectively towards the motivation of the different employees.
When the employees do not perform well, it affects the overall
productivity of the firm and hence, has an impact on the revenue
earning capability of the firm. Hence, the different organizations
need to take adequate initiatives to ensure success with the
employees and to encourage them accordingly. According to
Kuranchie-Mensah, Boye, and Amponsah-Tawiah (2016),
employee motivation plays a major role in determining the success
of a firm in the long run.
Contribution to Practice
Using the research results and the overall
outcomes, the firms in Bhutan will be able to
ensure that they are successfully being able to use
the recommendations which have been provided
in the paper so as to ensure that their low
motivational employee issues can be modified
accordingly and the firm can ensure long term
success. Other firms present in the same business
environment can also take advantage of this.
Contribution to Theory
The research study based on the Impact of
Organizational culture on the Employee
motivation at organizations in Bhutan and will
present a theoretical framework concerning the
Organizational culture and will determine the
overall effects of the same on Employee
motivation which will be useful for further
researches on the same topic (Lee and Raschke
2016). In relation to this, various theories relating
to the concept of Employee motivation will be
discussed which will assist in understanding the
overall impact of the motivation on work place
performance.
