This assignment is written in order to study in depth about the role of manager as well as the leaders in leading and managing the human aspects within the global organisational arena. The report also helps in identifying the required knowledge, skills and proficiencies of the leaders that is required for implementing the change in the business. This also focuses on management of these changes so that it foster positive impact on the association. Along with this, it also examines various leadership approaches that help the managers in successfully managing and leading the people. In this assignment the chosen topic is Leadership and its approaches(Sahoo and Sharma, 2015). Leadership is generally concerned with the process of influencing people or a group of people to work toward the accomplishment of the organisational goal. This report is based on the industry that is Tesco which focuses more on the managing and leading of people to carry their business operation in the best suitable manner so that goal of the firm can be attained within a given time frame. MAIN BODY CONCEPT OF LEADERSHIP: Leadership is the concept which is established within each and every organisation as this describe the ability of the firms management to set the goals, formulate effective decision for the benefit of the business association so that the desired level of the output can be achieved. This concept of leaders with its leadership plays a crucial role in firms growth and development of its overall performance so that the position of the business can be enhanced in the competitive market. Establishment of the effective leadership concept will enable the enterprise in motivating their personnel by the allotment of the task as per their skills and ability so that the work can be completed within the specified time frame without causing conflicts(French and Rees, 2016). Additionally a leaders is the person who have the ability to influence people to work in a systematic manner and also foster the ability to maintain interpersonal relationship with their seniors authority , employees and other staff within the organisation. This also focuses on the establishment of the healthy relationship between the employers and employees within the 1
workplace. In context of Tesco, leaders will also help the business in motivating and guiding their employees to work in a effective manner so that the targeted standard can be gained. This also helps the business in establishing a sound vision which is clear to each and every member of the association so that the overall performance of the organisation can be increased with increasing rate. To understand this picture with the clear view ,there are number of point which the business of Tesco carry out within their enterprise such as : Influencing behaviour of people:It is the duty of the leaders within the business of Tesco to influence their employees and workers to work for the attainment of the organisational goal using their ability of leadership. Apart from this a leader also focuses on controlling the members of their team in such a manner that the desired level of task can be performed and the vision of the firm can be accomplished. A person is said as good leader only when they are capable enough of motivating and influencing their subordinates to work effectively for the organisation(Shields and et. al., 2015). Support workers in fulfilling their needs:The leaders within the Tesco will also focus on the establishment and maintenance of the healthier relationship with their employees. And at the same timea leader also give their emphasis on the fulfilment on the requirement of their worker at the workplace. This fulfilment of the employees need will also support the leader to keep their worker motivated to work so that the expectation of the business get satisfied within the time period. In addition to this a leaders also provide their employees with proper safety and security of the job and provides them with the various opportunity so that the motivation level of theemployeesstaymaintainedandoverallperformanceoftheorganisationget enhanced(Peoples and et. al., 2017). Aid in solving conflicts effectively:the leaders within the organisation also focuses on the resolving of the issues and conflicts which arises during their working. Additionally the leaders of the Tesco will also allow their workers to make harmonious relationship among themselves so that they can work effectively. In Tesco the leaders allow grant permission to their employees to share their view and provides them the opportunity to solve their issues and conflicts on their own so that better performance can be rendered and the profitability and productivity can be increased. By providing proper authority and responsibility the leaders can also know the actual reason of arising of conflicts. In this leadership theory a leaders is said to be the great leader only if they inhabitant the quality of leadership by their birth. In this the leaders are not made they are who destined by the birth to be a great leader. Here the leaders is the one who have the skills and capability to lead and ask their follower to follow the directions as per given so that the objective of the firms can be achieved within the given set of time. Apart from this, the theory says that the leaders arise only if the need for the great leader is felt. In addition to this, behavioural theory is also refers to as the one that focuses on the leaders behaviours as opposed to their mental, physical and social characteristics. This theory generally focuses on the core factors which are technical skills, human skills, and the con conceptual skills. This give their more emphasis on the performance of the group, organisation as well as all the top level management working toward the achievement of the vision of the association. Apart from this the leader here also try his level hard to maintain strong relationship with their employees by rendering them rewards, extra pay due to which the workers feels motivated and perform so that the expectation of the management and the leaders get fulfilled. By using this leadership approach a leaders can easily focus on the evaluation of the employees performance and can reward them accordingly. This transformational leadership approach mainly focuses on the establishment of the positive changes within the business due to which the worker within the business remain motivated and works effectively so that the goal of the business can be achieved within a short span of time. This will also enable the leader of TESCO in rendering proper guidance and direction to the employees so that they can work in a positive manner and turned out to be the best suitable assets for the business(Transformational Leadership, 2019). 6
