PHILOSOPHY2IntroductionThe intuitive understanding of our minds and the mental states that include ourbeliefs, thought, pieces of knowledge, perceptions, emotions, and desires influencing ourbehaviors is basically known as the Theory of mind. It is a branch of the cognitive sciencedealing with our state of minds that explains or predicts others action. To summarize, theorymind is all about mind reading or mentalizing capabilities which we use to anticipate actionsor behaviors of our fellow human being. The theory of mind is an innate ability of all thehumans and is involved in our daily livings and social interactions. Furthermore, the skills ofthe theory mind are important for us since they help us to work co-operatively.DiscussionTwo of the most basic theories of mind are the ‘theory-theory’ and the ‘simulation-theory’. The concept of theory-theory explains the development of the human beings inunderstanding the outside world. According to the basic concept of this theory, each andevery individual has a naïve or basic theory related to psychology for interfering the mentalstate of others which includes their desires, beliefs, and emotions. This theory is popularamong all the researchers since it helps to understand the social nature of the human beings.In the book, ‘Empiricism and the Philosophy of Mind’, it has been suggested that the humangrasp of the phenomenon of mind does not actually develop from the inner life but from thefolk theory of mind that we all acquire by some forms of enculturation. One of the importantfactors of the theory-theory is that it explains the natural attempt of the children to formtheories that explain their observations. Like all of us, it is the natural ability of the childrento seek explanations which result in an easy understanding of them about their surroundings.According to this theory, children learn from their own experiences and own observations.
