The HR department of anorganisation is responsible for recruiting and selecting the employees by using methods such asinterview, mental ability test, psychometric test etc. Through these methods, HR manager candetermine the capabilities and skills of their potential candidates which can be hired in the firm.In this essay report, the taken organisation is M&S which is a retail supermarket chain based inUnited Kingdom. The company is employing around 80,787 employees in their 979 stores acrossthe United Kingdom. This report will explore and evaluate the theoretical underpinning ofHuman Resource Management along with the identification of current issues in the developmentof HRM. Further this report essay will explore the activities of HRM function. In the end, thisreport will develop a plan for a range of activities which form part of the HRM function.MAIN BODYHuman resources department is the one who is responsible for managing and monitoringthe workforce in order to ensure that the operations and activities of the firm is going in anproper manner and aligned with the objectives of organisation. This department hires the talentedindividuals by using the several methods. Through these methods, the HR manager candetermine the capabilities and skills of employees. Through these methods, the HR departmentcan chose the suitable candidates by selecting the suitable CV's by using the short-listing,interviews and then psychometric test (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014). This essay is focused onselecting the candidates from the traditional methods in order to recruit the employees fromoutside of organisation.Traditional method of interviewTraditional interview is the method of selecting the best candidates which is useful fordetermining the knowledge and information of the candidates then any other method of selection.This method is straight forward in nature and provides the important attributes of personality andtraits in the individuals. Traditional interview method is focused on the several hypotheticalscenarios and circumstances. The HR managers determines the ability of candidates to takejudgements in such conditions in order to select the candidates.
