INTRODUCTION
Communication can be described as process of sharing information from one person to
another. It is important process which play important role in business as it ensure free flow of
information among people (Cadet and Carroll, 2019). It is essential for a person to improve
effectiveness of information that provide them various benefits. This project report includes
discussion of theories of communication. It evaluate barrier of communication that made
employee unwilling to return to office. Moreover, it outline different strategies to overcome of
barrier of communication.

Discussion of general theories of communication
Organisation communication can be described as field that is growing in terms of scope
and depth over last decades. Needs of it is increased with rise of corporation and also offer
different ways to a person of doing business. There are various theories related to
communication which assist business for purpose of ensuring free flow of communication. These
theories are given by Wax Weber, George Cheney, Philip Tompkins and other. Explanation of
these theories is mentioned below:
Weber's Class theory of organisation: This theories is given by Max Weber which is
considered as pioneer for studies of organisation. In this theory, they has made an attempt to
define organisation structure and also provide meaning of process of communication that happen
within organisation (Chen, Davison and Ou, 2020). According to this theory, organisation has
define roles as well as responsibilities as communication is hierarchical, clear and structured
process. It assist to avoid confusion at workplace for message sent from top position to lower
position.
Tompkins and Cheny's organisational control theory: It is a theory which is an
extension of weber's theory that can be applied in an organisation. It is a theory that can be
applied to organisation that move from past bureaucratic mode and is not completely amorphous.
It is a theory according to which there are four kind of control which assist them to identify
exercise of power in organisation. This power can be bureaucratic, simple, technical as well as
concertive. In this theory, these control are explained as per progression of organisation from

notion of a company and in case of develop a view for organisation through considering
democratic aspiration of people as well as power centres in company.

Barriers of communication can be defined as aspect that prevent an employees to
effectively deliver message at workplace. There are different type of barrier in an organisation
and explanation of it in context of company is mentioned below:
Physical barrier: It is one of barrier of communication that occur in surrounding of
organisation at job. Example of it includes layout of office that prevent view of co-worker,
nature for remote work that can reduce speed of efforts of communication and also close door
that discourage interaction.
Emotional Barrier: It is another barrier of communicator that occur due to feeling of
anxiety and doubts in a person (Ratnasari, Hamdan and Julia, 2019). A supervisor who
intermediate can cause anxiety in staff members and also discourage open discussion of people.
Linguistic Barrier: It is another barrier of communication that includes verbal, physical
and written cues used by companies in order to share their message. There are different reason
due to which it occur as different language, vague body language, unfamiliar jargon that leads to
communication gap.
Psychological barrier: There are Different types of issues to e faced by a person for
effective communication. These barrier came due to stage fear, phobia, depression, speech
disorder and others. All these barrier are difficult to manage by a person and also create
problems for communication.
Cultural barrier: With globalisation, business has reach to international market where
there are different culture (Zhu and Smith, 2019). Different types of culture existed in different
important in organisation structure in compare to another model.

There are different types of strategies which can be adopted by organisation in order to

should be compose in a clear and structure manner with simple language which an be
understandable for other person (Verk, Golob and Podnar, 2021). Tone of message of receiver
should be set in a manner that allow them to easily understand the message and does not harm to
feeling of receiver. It is also important for sender to avoid use of unnecessary technical word in
message as it can create problem for receiver to understand message. As barrier related to
language can make an employee isolated and this strategy allow sender to understand their
language and also make employee for willing to return to office.
Consult other before communication: It is important for a person to consult before
communication and suggestion also needs to be invited from different individual. There are
various benefit that a person get from people who are consulted at time of preparing
communication process that provide them success.
