2. Introduction
The AML organization is in a need for a new network layout as the organization is looking
expand their business to the next level. In addition to this, the organization is looking to develop
the network efficiently so that the network can serve the business of the organization in the next
five years.
The report has been developed for the description of the new network layout for the
organization that would aid their business needs. The logical and physical designs of the network
has been provided in the report and the IP allocation has also been provided here.
3. Data Transmission Media
The transmission media is an important part of the network that would be helpful in the
development of the communication path for the nodes that are deployed in the network of the
organization. The data transmissions within the network would also take place with the
communication paths developed within the network. The network would be developed in
between two buildings and the hence means of wireless communication is to be developed within
the network. The wired connection can be established in between the network within the
buildings. In addition to this the buildings are to be connected by means of the wire connections.
The media connectors to be used in the system are described in the table provided below:
Connectors Devices
Cross over cables Router to Router, Router to switch, Switch to Switch, AP to router,

the network. The organization has instructed to use the 172.16.152.0/23 IP address sub
networking mode to bifurcate their network and create smaller subnetworks. In addition to this
the organization has also provided the system allocation to be done in the network as per the
table provided below:
Department Hosts
Software Development 70 workstations, 10 printers
Production 5 workstations, 2 printers
Marketing 10 workstations, 4 printers
Administration 5 workstations, 2 printers
For the sub, netting of the network the major network used is 172.16.152.0/23. 510 IP
addresses are available in the major network. The number of IP addresses required are 108 and
the IP addresses available are 168. 34% of the major network address space is being used and
about 64% of the sub, netted address space is used.
