Clipper Bay is a small town situated on the tip of the peninsula and covered by the sea.
Most of the economy depends on the fishing and business related to this industry in the town.
The stakeholders or parties at clipper bay think that investing in tourism planning and
development creates various opportunities for the economic growth of the town for that
government granted budget of $50m in tourism development of the town or for the revitalization
of the economy. The region has facilities such as highways across the road that gives
accessibility to reach the hills. Further, the region offers unique cuisines, food items, and seafood
to the visitors, the culture and tradition of the place are accompanied by a one week feast and all
these features of the place make it attractive for the tourists. Tourism impact on three areas;
environment, sociocultural and economy, there are both negative as well as the positive impact
of tourism on these areas. Positive impacts include increasing job opportunities for local people,
a higher standard of living and boost in economic activities. Negative effects of tourism are
unsustainable resources or shortage of resources to the local people, economic leakage and
mostly impact the cultural and social areas. Tourism impacts and tourism development can be
better understood with a case study of Clipper Bay.
This essay includes all the aspects of tourism and the approaches that can be used to
revitalize the tourism industry in Clipper Bay. Furthermore, the reason for this essay is to
highlight the sustainable manner for the development of Clipper Bay economy by knowing the
environmental and social-cultural element of the town. At last, the essay includes the
development of a tourism plan for Clipper Bay as per the budget allotted. It also includes a

Developing Tourism at Clipper Bay
In order to revitalize the economy of Clipper Bay, the tourism industry is taken as the
best option. It is essential to prepare a sustainable plan for saving the economy of Clipper Bay
from resource reduction and to safeguard cultural and natural resources. Economy can be
revitalized by developing industries, highways and commercial areas. The best approach to
renew the economy must be developed with the help of parties and communities who are
responsible for sustainable outcomes. Clipper Bay has a population of 5000 people and their
development and business depend on fishing with that people of the town also deal in
agricultural and farming products for their living. In spite of these industries, other sources of
revenues can promote tourism for renewing economy of Clipper Bay. In this process of
economic revitalization, all the concerned parties should be involved that are government, local
community, and tourism operators. This is considered as the best way to revitalize the economy
of Clipper Bay.
To take the decision about which industry is best to revitalize the economy a technique
can be used that is a cost-benefit analysis. This technique is useful in taking the decisions
regarding huge investment and it is a fast and simple way that can be used to take non-critical
financial decision. CBA has gained more importance in developed economies. This technique
help finding in finding the best alternative for revitalizing the Clipper Bay economy and for that
following factor is considered; access to the town, availability of resources and pool of labor
(Mason, 2015).
Clipper Bay has a pool of resources that includes tourist spots, sea-land natural
attractions, hotels, resorts and forests camping. Looking into the availability of labor in the town,

tourism development in the town. There is less labor in the town that can be part of tourism as
most of them focus on their key areas for livelihood so tourism operator needs to aware local
people about the tourism opportunities and give them knowledge then hire those workers for
tourism. Tourist can access to Clipper Bay through road transport and new roads or highways
can be add on advantage to develop the town and it will be beneficial for local people in future.
By analyzing all the above factors it is beneficial to opt tourism industry to revitalize the
economy of Clipper bay as the town has all the available facilities and resources and investment
in this industry can bring more opportunities and sources for the people as well as for
government (Moscardo & Murphy, 2014). With the help of cost-benefit analysis, it is known
that investing in the tourism industry in Clipper Bay is beneficial for the long run for the town
and development of the economy.
For revitalizing the economy of Clipper Bay, the tourism industry is selected, so for
development, a sustainable approach can be adopted that is responsible for tourism. This
approach includes all the stakeholders in the development of Clipper bay. Stakeholders in this
approach can be businesses, local people, government, tour operators and tourists. This approach
is based on the idea that all the stakeholders are important and are responsible for the
development of tourism industry in the town (Antimova, Nawijin, & Peeters, 2012). This
approach benefits the local people because they will get a better life, job opportunities, and high
standard of living. By using a responsible approach for the development of the economy through
focusing on tourism will make this place more attractive for tourists. This sustainable approach
will reduce the negative tourism impact on economic, environment and social-cultural areas and
will benefit the local people and create economic advantages for the town.
