INTRODUCTION
Tourism refers to the travelling and staying of an individual or in a group for at least 24
hours. It is the phenomena of travel and stay of non-residents. The present report will cover the
scenario of tourist report management. Hotel industry is proving different services which
includes resort, It is a type of hotel which is generally for vacations with various fun activities.
Calista Luxury Resort is the chosen organisation. The hotel is situated in Mediterranean beach, a
surf and sailing school, and luxury spa. It offers different type of cuisine and cater to everyone
from family to groups. This report covers the different types of resort and their operational
functions, also explains the various resort packages and their contribution to organisation. The
resort offers private balcony or terrace, giving view of the sea and mountains.

P1 Explore the different types of resorts, their key features and potential issues and challenges of
managing them.
A resort is a type of hotel which offers more privacy, entertainment and experiences
during the stay of their guest. It also provide all the facilities and amenities in a single place with
the fulfilment of all the requirements of guest. Generally resort is situated near tourist
destination, which increases the enjoyment of vacations by offering luxury amenities and
services. The major difference between hotel and rest is hotel provide lodging facilities and
resort offers special recreation activity and relaxation(Mason, 2015) .
There are different types of resort that is classified on the bases of location, type etc. here
classification of resort is based on categories are follows:
Ski Resort- These are the type of resort which is situated near hill station, which is at top
height with full of snow. These type of resort offers activities like skiing, snowboarding
and all winter sports. Such resort offers the authenticity of that location in their services
and amenities.
River Resort- These are the type of hotel which is located near river or backwater of
dam. These resorts are relatively included the water activities, which is different from
beach resort. The activities offered are river rafting and boating and other adventurous
activities.

Hill Resort- hotel which is situated in hill or near hill are called hill resort. The purpose
of visiting such hotel is to see the beauty of mountains and to fell the clean and fresh
environment of the nature. These hotel provide facilities and amenities with the
consideration of environment and guest requirement.
Beach Resort- The hotel which is near sea or on the beach itself, is called beach resort.
The attraction of point is floating ocean with frolic sand and land. These type of resort
provides enjoyment activities includes paragliding, scuba diving, jet skiing and many
more. This is the best combination of fun and nature for the vacations.
PROBLEMS IN MANAGING DIFFERENT TYPES OF RESORTS ARE:
Calista Luxury Resort is a beach based resort, which is situated on an island of UK and
offers luxury services and amenities for the satisfaction of guest. There are certain issues and
challenges, which is faced by the resort management. There is high competitive environment
while operating the guest. Some of these challenges and issues are explained below in context of
Calista Luxury Resort:
The primary challenge is to meeting the customer expectations by all types of hotels.
Social group visits to the resort have different preferences and Calista luxury resort offers
enjoyment and adventurous activities, so challenge arises for the resort to satisfy all
clients with their choices and preferences (Mearns and Boshoff, 2017).
Another challenges is the seasonal revenue from the resort. This is the natural challenge
that can not be cured. In off season, resorts generate less revenue, which effect the
profitability of the organisation.

managing the different specialist areas for a range of resorts.
Operational requirements of every organisation is different from each other. There are
four major departments in hotels and resort kitchen, housekeeping, food&beverage and front
office. Various operational areas of resort are as follows:
Housekeeping Department- The housekeeping department is the second important
department in the hotel, who closely engage in the guest visiting the hotel. This
department is responsible for keeping clean and offers a beautiful rooms and stay to the
guest. Also keep checking with the guest for any requirement in the premises
