Abstract
Training is about improving skills, competencies, knowledge base of individuals so that
they can perform their jobs in the best possible way. The main aim of providing training sessions
is to upgrade skills and understanding level of workforce in order to make them capable enough
to fulfill their duties appropriately. There are different challenges faced by the company in
absence of training such as lack of productivity, delay in production, quality errors and more.
Further, it is found that major methods of training are; class-room training, social learning,
online learning and more. Training benefits the company in terms of improving employee
engagement and retention for longer duration.

development of employee within UK retail sector.
Introduction
Background of project
Training and development is one of the major important components in order to improve
overall knowledge and skill base of workers which also further contributes in terms of improving
overall performance of workers in significant manner. Through training, it is possible to enhance
skills, competencies and knowledge of employees so that they perform assigned duties in rightful
manner. Further, training also makes workers enable to contribute towards success &
enlargement of the entity. On other side, development is about overall development and
upliftment of individuals to contribute in their personality development. However, there are
several challenges faced by the companies while arranging necessary training & development
sessions for the employees (Wehrmeyer, 2017). In context of current project, ASDA is taken into
consideration that is a well-known retail organization based on UK. It offers ample of products
including mobile phones, accessories, clothes along with groceries. The respective entity
acquires significant share in the retail industry of UK. The main aim of present project is to
analyze the challenges faced by the respective entity in absence of suitable training &
development programs. Along with this, it will also cover methods used by the respective entity
to train their staff members. Further, benefits gained by ASDA through training & development
programs have also been analyzed in the following report.
Justification of chosen topic
In present era, training and development plays an imperative role in terms of improving
knowledge base of the individuals so that they become enable to perform their duties in the best
possible way. To cope up with updated and recent technological development, there is
requirement to train workers. After training employees, it is possible for the company to assign
suitable duties to them (Park, Kang and Kim, 2018). The present topic is based on analyzing the
challenges faced by the companies while adopting necessary training and development programs
in order to improve overall performance of workers. The selected topic is highly relevant in
