INTRODUCTIONDevelopment and change is the ultimate truth that needs to be adopted by each businessto sustain in long term. Understanding and leading change prepares businesses to meet theproblems that comes with initiating and implementing change. This process helps to assesschange and examine psychological, political and organisational issues that generate by suchchanges. It is important for each business to adopt change to survive in long run. For this projectASDA stores limited a British supermarket founded in year 1949 is taken. For comparisonanother organisation ALDI another supermarket chain founded in the year 1946 is taken. A detailanalysis of impact of change in organisational strategy and operations, change in organisationalbehaviours due to these changes (Kotter, 2012). Clarification regarding how barriers to changeinfluences leadership decision and leadership approaches applied to these changes. TASK 1 Managing the Impact of ChangeP1: Impact of change on an organisation's strategy and operationsASDA is a British supermarket retailer, headquarters is situated in Leeds, West Yorkshireand revenue of the company is 2.166.6 crores GBP. Peter and Fred Asquith Sir Noel Stockdaleare founders of this company that posses 165000 employees. On the other hand, ALDI is acommon brand of two German family owned discounted supermarket chain. Estimated turnoverof the company is €50 billion. It has 10000 stores in 20 countries and posses large group ofemployees. Both the companies are performing as large supermarkets and various changes in thebusiness environment is assessed by these companies. These organisations have to provide theirresponse to the emerging changes in the business world to make effective decision. Change inthe business environment can be similar but approaches to deal with these changes are differentof both the organisation (Doppelt, 2017). Comparison of ASDA and ALDI in response to changein business environment is as follows:Basis of changeASDAALDITechnologicalTechnology is an area where therehave been a lot of advances. Forexample- mass use of microwavesis a technological advancement.Online and mobile shopping hasincreasingly becoming popularand supermarkets are turningtowards technology. With this1

Adaptation of thistechnology helps company to copewith the changes and expandbusiness (Salmela, Eriksson andFagerström,2012).Newtechnologies have positive impacton strategy and operations ofASDA as online shopping servicesare introduced by the company.New technology helps inexpanding market of companyand new consumer base isgenerated by the company.Company has responded to adopttechnological changes and usethese changes for expansion ofbusiness. increased technology number ofconsumersexpectingtheefficient self service checkoutsfrom grocery providers hasincreased. ALDI has not yetadoptedsuchtechnology.Although quick and efficient inserving consumers. Response ofthe organisation towards changein technology is not as ASDA asfocus is provided on to servingconsumers. This efficiency ofserving consumers can not bechecked by consumers who arebuying few product from thestores. Technological changeshave minimum impact on ALDIas it is quite restrictive to adoptthese changes. It has minimumor no response towardstechnological changes andtermed consumer service as firstpriority to have satisfiedconsumers. PoliticalChange in various laws related tobusiness of ASDA like lows onfoods, competition law, taxpolicies and price regulation havehuge impact on strategies andregulations of the company.Planning permission is heavilyChanging political scenarioimposes new regulations, taximplicationsandmarketconditions.Thischangingpolitical conditions presentsfurther risk to the companywhich needs to be addressed.2
