INTRODUCTION
Changes refer to the modifications and enhancement in current working practices in order
to bring improvement in current working practices. For this purpose, entrepreneurs are required
to identify changes and implement those changes for betterment of business entity. The present
report is undertaken in order to enhance level of understanding regarding changes within entity
(De Lisle, Annisette and Bowrin-Williams, 2020). Amazon is well known e-commerce company
which is based on United state of America. It offers range of products such as groceries, home
appliances, electronics and more. Here, comparison of two organizations in terms of impact on
organizational strategy and operations has been covered in the assignment along with the
influence of internal & external drivers over leadership and team behavior. There are certain
measures going to discussed with an aim to mitigate adverse impact of changes. Further, barriers
of change and their impact over decision making have also been covered in the following
assignment along with various approach of leadership in context of organization.

Changes signifies move towards state of innovation, creativity for success of business
entity in future period of time. In current competitive world, changes have become an imperative
part of business where it is not possible to survive without facilitating change in an effective
manner.
Overview of Amazon: It is a renowned e-commerce company which offers different
range of products to the audience of different countries across the world. It was founded by Jeff
Bezos in 1994 as an online book store. Amazon is a multi-national organization that focuses on
e-commerce, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and more.

Overview of E-bay: It is a multinational organization based on California which
facilitates consumer to consumer and business to consumer sales via its website. E-bay was
founded in the year of 1995 by Pierre Omidyar.

Internal drivers:
These are the drivers which present within internal environment of organization and
significantly affect the overall process changes. In context of Amazon, certain internal drivers
are mentioned as under:
Finance: Funds are used to meet with business requirements in best possible way. It is a
source which has direct impact over performance & productivity of organization. It is required to
maintain adequate amount of funds in business so that business operations can be performed in
significant manner (Perry, Block and Noumair, 2020).
Impact over individual behavior: Individuals needs to perform their activities in such a
manner that they can make efficient use of available financial resources. It is analyzed that

employees of Amazon work with greater proficiency in order to maintain cost of production at
minimum possible level.
Impact over team behavior: Leaders of Amazon take decisions after due to consideration
with an aim to make optimum use of available financial resources. Further, their decision is
profit-centric which will further company towards higher profitability.
Organizational culture: Organization culture signifies values, behavior of individuals who are
working together to make the set organizational goals real. Here, organizational culture put a
tremendous impact over attitude, behavior of employees within business entity (Thompson,
2020). In context of Amazon, they make sure to maintain positive environment in order to
facilitate positive impact of changes within business entity.
Influence over individual behavior: Positive organizational culture is likely to affect
behavior of employees in positive manner. It motivates employees so that they can work in
change environment with utmost dedication and diligence.
Influence over leadership behavior: For effective implementation of changes, leaders of
respective organization provide proper guidance, support as well as direction to employees. It
helps in driving positive outcomes for further enhancement of business entity.
External Drivers:
Political Factors: It depicts policies, rules, regulations which are made by government or
political parties of respective country. Amazon is working in developed as well as developing
countries across the globe (Amado and Ambrose, 2018). Here, political stability of developed
countries provide a scope of business expansion to company.
 Impact over individual behaviour: Laws, regulations are changed with change in current
political conditions of country which further affect wages and other benefits being
offered to employees.
 Impact over leadership: Leaders analyze current political environment of country and
provide guidance to team members so that they can alien their efforts accordingly.

Economical Factors: Here, elements such as interest rate, exchange rate, inflation and more
are considered. In context of Amazon, disposable income of customers are increasing which is
enlarging the scope of profit for respective business entity.
 Impact over individual behavior: Here, employees need to modify their working
practices in order to meet with current economical conditions in best possible way.
 Impact over leadership: Leaders prepare effective strategies and provide guidance,
support to employees so that they can cope up with current economical changes for
ensuring better outcomes in future period of time.
Social Factors: It is concern with needs, requirements, attitude and behavior of customers.
Easy internet access and connectivity is favorable for Amazon (Mitterlechner, 2019). It is
analyzed that young generation is enthusiastic & has positive attitude towards online shopping.
This is creating opportunities for business entity.
 Impact over individual behavior: With the impact of pandemic, Amazon has recorded
hike in online shopping. For this purpose, employees are required to put significant
efforts for contributing in overall production of business entity.
 Impact over leadership: Due to social factors leaders are required to take appropriate
decisions so that employees can perform assigned task effectively.
Technological Factors: It is related with technological advancements, up gradation within
industry. Amazon is really ahead in terms of use of advance & updated technology. They embark
new and creative techniques with an aim to provide best possible services to end users.
 Impact over individual behavior: Due to installation of advance techniques, employees
of Amazon will able to perform assigned work with utmost proficiency that further
enlarge overall productivity of organization.
 Impact over leadership behavior: It is the duty of leaders of respective organization to
arrange training sessions so that employees can get necessary skills to cope up with
technological development and advancements.
Legal factors: It is related with formulating necessary rules, regulations to ensure smooth
functioning of business. There are ample of legislations, rules related to data breach, privacy,
data protection need to abide by Amazon in order to run business smoothly (Campion, 2019).

 Impact over individual behavior: Performance of individuals and team is affected with
change in legal framework. They need to have thorough knowledge of legislations in
order to perform business activities with greater efficiency.
 Impact over leadership: Leaders communicate changes to work force so that they do not
face any hardships while performing actual tasks at work place.
Environmental Factors: It is about following environmental friendly practices for ensuring
long term sustainability of business entity. Amazon is looking forwards to minimize emission
issues in order to protect environment for future betterment.
 Impact over individual behavior: Employees need to obey the environmental policies so
that they can maintain positive influence of company in market place.
 Impact over leadership: Leaders are also affected with environmental factors as they
need to provide appropriate guidance, support to work force in order to facilitate
environmental friendly practices within business entity.
P3) Measures to mitigate the negative impact of change over organizational behavior
Employees often resist changes as they need to modify their current pattern of work due
to implementation of changes. Certain measures which need to taken in order to minimize the
negative impact of changes are mentioned as under:
System Theory: According to this theory, there is requirement to have proper
communication between managers and employees in order to maintain a positive environment
within organization (Garland, 2018). There are several changes are introduced by company on
regular basis with an aim to bring enhancement in future period of time. In reference of Amazon,
they need to adopt this approach with an aim to develop positive attitude amongst work force.
Here, managers of Amazon also interact with subordinates constantly to get positive outcomes in
an efficient manner.
Continuous improvement model: This model is about introducing improvement
constantly in order to ensure sustainability in current competitor’s environment. Here, it is
important to analyze existence environment to facilitate necessary changes in future period of
time. By applying this model, it is possible to implement changes within organization in an

efficient manner. In reference of Amazon, they analyze current market environment constantly
and prepare suitable strategies for embarking changes at workplace in best possible way.
Motivation: It is a crucial way by which employees are motivated to get the work done in
a certain way. Motivation helps in getting the work done with greater efficiency and
productivity. Motivation is really crucial for positive reinforcement and also encourages

incentives, bonus, rewards, acknowledgement by which staff members can be motivated. In
addition to this, it is possible to implement changes within organization by offering suitable

motivational approaches in order to develop positive gesture amongst employees for change
mechanism. With motivation employees are likely to work with changes rather resisting it.

Communication: Communication is the key of success for each and every organization.
It is possible to minimize negative impact of changes by facilitating proper communication at
workplace. By maintaining proper communication, managers can avoid resistance of change

Evaluate current situation: It is the first step under which managers of Amazon
undertake detailed analysis of current situation of organization (Kossak, 2021). It helps in
identifying strengths and weaknesses of company.
Define the objectives: Here, goals and objectives related to change management practices
are define in order to maintain motivation throughout the presses.
Identifying driving forces: These are the forces which will put positive impact over
company after implementation of changes. In reference of Amazon increment in profit, number
of customers, enhancement in market share are some important driving factors.
Identifying restraining forces: These are the forces which present obstacles in attainment
of set goals of change practices. In reference of Amazon, restraining forces are resistance of
employees, increment in cost, change in market position and many more.
Evaluate the forces: Here, forces are evaluated in order to identify overall impact of
changes over organization. In this, managers of Amazon determine scores of each and every
force which is based on their influence over organization.

Develop an action plan: It is the final step wherein administration of respective company
prepares an action plan based on futuristic approach with an aim to attain set organizational goals
within predefined period of time.
Barriers of changes
Lack of employee involvement: Employees are crucial part of business entity. It is
imperative to get support of work force for implementing changes in an effective way. Initially,
employees are likely to resist changes. They are in fear of lay off, replacement, change in current
role and more. This reduces down involvement of employees in business operations which
further minimize overall productivity of business (Waters and Grubb, 2019). In context of
Amazon, they also face the barriers of lack of employee involvement which need to address
properly in order to implement changes positively.
Lack of communication: For implementing changes in proper way, it is paramount to
maintain proper communication. Lack of communication increases ambiguity, confusion which
further reduces overall productivity as well as efficiency of employees. It is often seen that
employees do not accept changes easily rather they resist it due to their internal fear. In context
of Amazon, lack of communication is the major issue that will create constrain in
implementation of changes. For this purpose, they are required to maintain proper
communication at different level of organizational hierarchy.

P5) Discuss leadership approaches in order to deal with changes in organizational context
Leaders are the key person of organization who plays a crucial role in guiding, supporting
as well as directing of employees throughout the change management process. In context of
Amazon certain leadership approaches are stated below:
Transformation leadership: It is a leadership approach wherein complete guidance,
support offered by managers to subordinates. Here, managers help employees at each and every
stage which further strengthen the relationship of employers and employees.

Participative leadership: Under this approach employees have opportunity to actively
participate in activities of organization. In this, leaders believe in empowering employees thus
they offer necessary freedom to work force so that they can take part in decision making process
of organization (Ordoñez-Salanueva and et. al., 2021).
Situational leadership: This approach emphasis on taking decisions based on the
situation. There is no predefined way for leaders to act during a situation. Rather, they analyze
the current situation and take best possible decision accordingly.
For Amazon, transformational approach is the best suitable approach which will help
in developing positive attitude amongst work force regarding changes. It will also help in
establishment of positive relationship between ship India and subordinates organization.
It is summarized with above given assignment that changes are vital part of business
entity which signifies to adapt innovative and creative ways to perform a particular task.

Unfreezing: It is the first step where managers face a lot people resisting changes. Here,
main role of managers is to create awareness and acceptability. Here, communication is really
imperative so that employees get to know about the after effect of changes. By this way,
employees get to know that how they are getting benefited with change practices (Aripin and
Samboteng, 2020). More employees know about the change more they will feel comfortable in
change environment. In context of Amazon, managers are required to maintain proper
communication for ensuring positive impact of changes within entity.

Changes: This is a step wherein changes are actually implemented. Here, employees
actually get enter in transition process where they leave the existing practices and start to work
with new & recent approach. Here, change becomes real. This step is full with uncertainties, fear
thus communication, support, assistance is highly crucial in order to deal with the fear. In
Amazon, they are required to implement changes with proper communication, support so that
employees do not feel left out in the situation of uncertainty.
Refreeze: It is the last step under which it is ensured that employees stick with new
practices and do not return over existing work practices. It is really difficult to ensure
sustainability of changes for longer period of time. Here, it is required to put efforts so that

motivate employees through the change management process.
