INTRODUCTION
Operation management is the major function of the organisation. This is an area of
management that concern with controlling and designing process of production and reconstruct
business operation in regards to produce goods and services. It has the responsibilities of
conforming that business operations are going in sufficient manner in order to using raw materiel
in effective way which meet with customers requirement. This phase involves whole production
system which named as process that convert input into out puts. It produce, manage quality and
frame services (Alsafi and Vyatkin 2010). This operation management is needed in all
organisation for strategy and production of goods and services. Logistic is the process through
things are flows between point of origin to consumption with objective to meet demands of
customers in the management. It helps in managing the resources such as food, animals,
equipment and liquids as well as information. It includes the mixture of flow, production,
packing also transportation, security and warehousing. The management of logistics are the part
of supply chain that discovers, plan, imposed and control the forward of goods to end user. The
problem of the logistic can be assessed by software which are used in the organisation. The main
motive of this frame is to minimise the use of common resource ( Arbogast and et. al., 2012).
Other side supply chain simply is the part of management which helps in proper flow of goods
and services. It includes some functions such as movement and storing of raw and semi finish
materiel of inventory and also look after the process of delivering the goods end user. The supply
chain is the interlinked network of channels and branches of the business in combination of
product and services. The more objective of supply chain is to framing net value, creating
competitive structure measurement he performance.
The NHS is the collective name of the health care service centre in England as national
health services which is a social care provider who gives a lot of health assistance to UK
residents which framed in 1948, headquarter is in London and charges made of for dental
treatment and optical that are affordable but for it there are so many assumptions. This
organisation is working independently and politically a concern for the government. This report
will be covers and based on the operation management of NHS , hence there are so many
theories of logistics, operation and supply chain management which showcases the importance of
it and capturing eyes on its maintenance so that company will use it in accordance their needs of
these department. NHS should use and considered these activities and action which helps them in

reducing conflicts in organisation and facilitates the smooth running also provides proper sitting
in between doctors and staff members. The techniques which are arose by assessment of theories
are took their places in organisation and provide aid in operation of health care services and
make good impact on society. The contribution of these are immanence in organisation.
Two important areas in managing operations, logistics and supply chain
The two prominent areas which needs to be managed properly are listed as:
New product/ Service development and process: NHS are tend to focuses on the
development of the services and processes which are offered to patients. To keeping it in the
mind organisation needs to provides best possible services to take care of the patients that helps
in reducing and curing disease and any kind of problem in minimum time period.. the
corporation should hires high skilled persons or doctors as well as associates like nursing staff
and ward boy especially those who have good experience in this health care filed for delivering
the best taking care to patients (Hill 2011). Sound and conformable environment is very
important for the person who needs care and it helps in creating or gaining trust as so many
people think that government health care organisation are not so good in every aspect like not in
caring person nor its managements and generally public compare these government corporation
to private organisations hence this can be reason for not taking or very less people are having
facilities of NHS. In this regard NHS needs to frame a product which has some attributes such as
they gives quick respond that people are not required to be in waiting line this helps to have
reputation in market.
Managing quality : in order to provide services, quality of the product is the eye candy
in public and major factor which needs to be consider mainly in health care company. If the
services which are supposed to deliver to the needed person are poor and low in quality then that
person may losses his life ( Kumar and et al., 2012). For nation life of its citizen are more
important hence life is priceless so government needs to provides the best or high quality
services to his civilians. Quality also be concerning to medical sector as the health drug are
major thing in term of health care industry if the quality of the medicine is not up tot he mark
then it will be able to caret hurdle in patient's diseases and problem. it can be true that it will
make diseases incurable or worst. Because of a low quality medicine a patient is not able to cope
in quick manner so they took time in recovering his diseases. So it is important for NHS to
manage and look after their medicines production, uses and provides best quality in it too. This

also took part in contribution in nation good medical facilities will helps in development of
country.
Critical review of relevant Operation, Logistics and Supply Chain Management theories
In the word of Low, Chen and Wu (2011) operation management basically concern with
controlling the process of production and business actions in most possible and prominent
manner. It is responsible for certain functions in organisation such as it should look after the
smooth operations which goes efficiently. It also save the use of limited common resources and
helps in getting good price in market. The operation management revolves on six sigma theory
which is a approach that giving its lights on quality. It was developed in the era from 1985 to
1987 at Motorola which is a American company. The model of six sigma is to manages the
quality and helps in utilizing the resources in industry. The word six refers to control limits that
can be puts in the six standard deviations from the normal distribution mean. According to Lucas
and Pawlik (2014) six sigma is known as the quality program which improves customer's
experience, reduces the cost and builds better environment. It is a disciplined, data generated
approach for eliminating defects in process form product to service. It includes the certain steps
for improving quality of process. As market is always demanded for high quality in NHS hence
this theory is tend to be beneficial for the organisation. This modal has followed some of steps
such as defining, measuring, analysing, improving and controlling.
According to the statement of Maier and et. al., (2011).in the very first step process those
are faulty in nature are needs more focus and the consideration will be coming with doing
analysis for needs and goal of the company through this examination problems, aims and product
or services which needs to be deliver are identified. coming to second step which are concerting
in framing a spacial team for analysis and measuring the core action of the process. These
practical statistical measures builds a list of exacted data or inputs that may be the reason for the
problem and give their assistance to team in understand the process of determined performance.
In the third step, team which are made up his members evaluates the process by
separating or dividing inputs and possible reasons for the failure and apply test on it as the
prominent issues. After this examination members of group defined the reason for the process
error at the same time they performing in order to improve performance of system. The last steps
is meant as team adds controls to procedures for conforming that it will not regress and become
not productive ones again.

On the other side of coin, Manilich and et. al., (2013)depicted that Deming's theory is one
of the good concept provided by total quality management or TQM. This is a philosophy which
purely based on the 14 points of management which is given by well known theorist. Scholar
said that an organisation's quality is bit equal to the performance on over the entire cost. They
states four major points which is generally used in regular improvement. These are listed as:
System appreciation : Here in the venture needs to understand the methods which it may
be imposed and also learn working of whole system.
Variation knowledge : this steps is giving statement on variation that emerges and
creates fluctuations in process.
Knowledge theory : This showing lights on detailed interpretation about particular topic
and team.
Psychology knowledge : This step has been concern with the learning of the behave of
the human begins. Hence it been examined that after detailing the interpretation on several types
of knowledge connected with an enterprise, employee can tend to be more capable of
maintaining the quality of his work or service.
Apart form this there are so many thing or elements of this theory which can be listed as:
giving stability in objective.
Make use of new concepts.
Moving dependence on average examination.
On the basis of pricing a award needs to be given to every company for their best price.
Service enhancement and product continuation improvement can helps in motivating
employees.
Reducing the fear from all kind of firms
aid in framing the quality based goals and mission.
It helps in focusing on every and each new hired employee should be train in his filed.
In the words of (Mention 2011)says that Crosby's theory is the other one approach which is
driven by Philips Crosby. This author has given power on the quality of the goods products and
services offered by several company. As his statement managerial groups of organisation are
needs to spent their major time and fund to maintain their quality with respect to attain the
success of the company and creates some trust. A author has described the major four elements

through which this techniques are better understand. Hence there are some cure steps are given
by Philip Crosby for developing the company are as:
Capturing all promises from managerial team.
Creating the quality improvement team who also check it on regular basis.
Framing matrix for each and every quality enhancement task.
Trying to making zero defect company.
Defining and determining the bets cost for quality.
Motivates personnels in order to reducing the issues which may impact on his success.
Analytical discussion with relevant and similar examples
This has been felt that there are so many issues which rises in NHS. Few of them are :
Quality regarding service offered : Services that are available for the persons of UK are
not at all of good quality thing. Regards to this some different problems are showing in nation.
Infection and diseases those are spreading through communication are on hike in nation and this
is the reason for the increase numbers of death which are recorded in last year. As an example,
there was an hike in the whole death rate and the reason behind is the respiratory diseases and
accidents in Wales. Hence, NHS must creates increases in the quality of the service which helps
in reducing the ratio of death and keep controlling it in proper manner through offering their
services in public in more best quality facilities or services (Odom and et. al., 2010).
Lack of skilled workers : this is also been seen that mainly persons who are working
with the NHS are interns who are appointed for gaining experiences hence at the recruitment
time they don't know about medical care and they also don't know that how to inject person so
how could be they come up for this work as how they will control and take care of patient and
some times doctors also not have sound knowledge or experience. For coping with this reason
organisation needs to hired some skilled persons or employees whom are capable and able to
give proper quality service and treatments to the patients. After attending the training which are
provide to new employee in that they will get needed knowledge that they can use it in future
cases.
Low quality medicines : the main defects is in organisation is lower quality medicine
that they offered to their customer and due to bad medicine person are facing so many issues.
Not much improvement are seen in the patient who are admitting in the hospital form a long

time. Hence NHS needs to use and or purchase the good quality medicine or drug which they are
plan to offer to his customer.
Absence of adequate infrastructure : it has been generally seen that the number of
patients are more but the number of bed, wear and other important things are less in care centre.
For this reason person whom are need to have the treatment in emergency are not the having the
same and suffers more. Even more number of death are have the same reason. In regard to offers
best care in organisation to customer the UK government should try to arranges proper
infrastructure that every one can have quality things and helps in saving the life (Schönsleben
2016).
Less number of workers : work force need to be in adequate number. The quality of
doctors and nurses are needed to be sufficient to take care of good level of mob in health care
organisation. As how can a single nurse and doctor will provide and face the numbers of patients
if they give them no single people will be cured. Hence NHS need to have proper number of staff
who can able to face the patients.
Experts advice : the knowledge for different theories of quality and management of
action are took form so many experts cause they had sound idea of all of these philosophies. In
order to sorting the issues of NHS they put some recommendation which are mentioned in this
assignments. In other side they have given the major theories which helps to persons whom are
working in health care industry.
Recommendation
As NHS are facing some critical issues in health care services in term of quality they
needs to take proper steps in regards to reduce or remove problems or issues ( Pietrzak, R.H., and
et. al., 2010). Some of recommendation are are :
The defected process are need to keep concentration on quality management team of the
organisation. This could be defined by the analyse the real needs and objective of the
business.
They need to assemble special team for solution of every problem in which every person
have different train that helps in this process.
They should concentrate on improving prereform for whole organisation.
They needs to rescue those factor which create hopes for future hurdle.

logistic is the core and important segment of the organisation. Which helps in running the
venture smoothly with lower cost and minimum using of the resource hence NHS is the health
care social organisation who gives social care for free of cost in UK. By the assessment they
