INTRODUCTION
Health and social care is a terminology that involves supplying services to improve the
health of individuals living in society. It has a broad scope that consist of different concepts like
nutrition, biology, ethics etc. Health and social care department is developed to carry out such
services that focus on meeting needs of people. Assignment highlights the concepts of health,
illness and disability faced by users as well as different approaches that supports individuals with
specific needs. Apart from it, there are strategies that are formulated to cope up challenging
behaviour associated with health and social care requirements.
TASK 1
1.1 Analysing concepts of health, disability, illness and behaviour to users of health and social
care services
Health and social care plays a vital role in ensuring that individuals live a healthy and
disease-free life. The concept of health defines people's right which is fundamental in nature. It
include leading a life without any illness and problems. On the other hand, disability is a
condition of impairment that concentrates the relation among features of the society where they
are living and residing for longer period. The people engaged in health and social care sector
works to meet out health issues that may be of different nature and type like physical, mentality
and learning disabilities. Apart from it, disease is also a aspect that is defined as an abnormal
condition of an individual due to unstable mind and body (Morgeson, DeRue and Karam, 2010).
There are number of causes that affect the human health hence, it can further be divided based on
mental, physical and social. Health and social care organisations that are present in the society

that imparts all the health-related services to make the people healthy and disease free. World
Health Organisation(WHO) is the institution that is developed to make efforts for improving
health of every individual of the world.
WHO’s definition of Health: It is a “state of complete mental, social and physical well being and
not merely the absence of disease.”
Explain the concept of normality: It is defined when an individual person is consistent with his or
her behaviour than this concept is known as normality.

This defined as people is suffering from number of diseases due to number of reasons
hence, conditions are not favourable.

1.2 Assessing the way perceptions of specific needs have changed over time
It has been observed that perceptions of specific needs have been changed over time on
several basis and aspects (Tomlinson, 2014). There are number of approaches towards mental
learning conception that is largely being ignored hence proper attention and consideration should
be provided and granted. There are several steps that have been formulated which include
awareness creation and educational programmes that helps in building knowledge about the
same. Government have taken several steps to meet the needs and requirements that must be
fulfilled in respect of disability phenomenon. There are some cases of historical perspective of
generation of health issues and consider due to bad spirits as the cause for illness which was later
being transformed into individual's purification in Christianity religion. The social and political
component together results in contribution in changing the perception. There is another example
in this aspect that include craziness of individual for Paralympics games which is held in four
years. Health institution have developed several training and development programs that has
been imparted to doctors, practitioners to improve the health of people (DePoy and Gitlin, 2015).
1.3 Evaluation of the impact of legislation, social policy, society and culture over services
There are number of elements that are present which is formulated in order to enhance
the role of health care sector so that they are forced to meet particular wants of individuals. It is
the responsibility of health care homes to apply the norms and regulations of society and culture.
The impact of several legislations over services are illustrated below:

 The health and Service Care Act 2008: It is an act that has been implemented by UK
government that focuses on number of activities like supplying proper health care
services to patients by travelling one place to another. National Health care Trust is
constructed that provide aid to many patients.
 The Children Act, 2004: This act is drawn in response of providing effective health care
services to the children so that they remain healthy (Du, Bhattacharya and Sen, 2010).
Social policies and procedures create a impact on various people with disabilities so that
proper attention could be imparted on them.

Every individual has different type of needs and hence, health care institution need to
examine it effectively so that proper strategies are framed and implement in proper manner.
various types of care needs are described below:
 Social Care: This care focuses on providing health services in relation to social support
services, personal care and risk in relation to disabilities, illness.
 Physical Care: This care is imparted to people which are suffering from any physical
impairment while applying several medical equipment and means (Bhattacharya and Sen
2010).
 Emotional Care: In this, staff people are held responsible to create a healthy relation
with their patients especially mental health cases.
2.2 Current systems to support individuals with specific needs
Proper care is provided to meet the specific needs of the individual which can be different
in nature and type. There are various systems that has been formulated to support the specific
necessity of people which are described below:
 Voluntary Organisation: This type of entity is established to provide the health care
services in order to enhance the health of society. They are not constituted to earn high
profits and outcomes, it include government local hospitals, clinical commissioning
group that lend services to various group of people (Burns and Grove, 2010) like
physically challenged and poor, needy people.

 Statutory organisation: it include all those established that are financed by state and
central government bodies. Hence, basically they receive the financial assistance from
government sector and can carry out their activities accordingly. NHS is a best example
of this organisation that supply health facilities at major part of the world.
2.3 Evaluate Services which are available in UK
There are different health issues and cases of individuals that may differ in number of
ways. Therefore, services must be drafted in relation to social or health care. Some of it are
described below:
 Social Care: These types of services are provided to supply facility and benefits to
individuals that are living in the society. It include facilities like transportation, education
and residential and many other. For example, framing of educational programs in order to
create awareness about human rights and other components. Residential facility focuses
on providing home to lower section of society.
 Health Care: there are several numbers of institutions that are present in the society that
concentrates on delivering services to vast number of people (Kietzmann and et. al,
2011). NHS is among the top most service provider that only functions for lending
quality services to their customers.

4.1 Different concepts of challenging behaviour
Is a challenging task to understand the behaviour of the individual as they are different
from each other in several ways (De Mooij, 2013). Hence, this enable them to take the effective
decision accordingly. Some concepts that are present in the challenging behaviour of individual
are described below:

 Ill Health: It is the condition in which a person is not in his/her stable mind and body.
They have been suffered from some mental, physical illness and therefore, they behave in
abnormal manner. The illness can be classified in mental, physical for instance mental
illness is the abnormality that is in relation with human brain. On the other hand, physical
illness is the abnormality that is generated in some body part that include asthma, cancer,
diabetes and arthritis. Is the nature of disease being chronic than, it cannot be cured hence
must be handled properly?
 Learning Disabilities: Learning is an important concept that involve the ability of an
individual to learn new things and concepts that is related to some aspect. Hence, the
learning disability is present when person is not able to understand and learn some
techniques and things. Therefore, they lack in several features that need to be addressed
efficaciously and efficiently.
 Physical disability: This is the disability which is concerned with some physical
limitation that are find out in individual person. It include respiratory and sleep disorders,
epilepsy, blindness, problems of stamina or physical functioning and many others. Hence,
it cause a negative effect on the physical strengths of people (Fowler, 2010).
From the above discussion there are number of concepts that need to be considered which
include confusion, delusion, aggression that is present in individual from many disabilities that
my be mental or physical.
4.2 Impact of challenging behaviour upon health and social care organisation
It has been finding out that there are many challenging behaviours while working in
health and social care organisation. There are diverse type and nature of challenges that have
been observed and hence must be treated effectively. As there are different types of patients
suffering from ill health, physical disability or learning disabilities and many other. Hence, it is
necessary to frame proper way through meet out these challenges so that positive results could be
attained. Some are illustrated below:
 Physical Disabilities: It is the responsibility of care home to deliver health care services
to their patients in accordance to the physical diseases that they are suffering from. It
consist of physical problem that include blindness, handicapped, tumour etc. hence,
proper treatment must be given to them so that they remain disease free and lead a
healthy life.

 Learning Disabilities: Health care homes is dealing with the individuals that are
suffering from several learning disabilities hence, some personalised care should be given
to them so that they could remove their issue as soon as possible and live a healthy life.
For fulling this service the institution appoint diverse staff members and nurses must be
present with the patients himself and take care of their healthy in effective manner.
Hence, personalise feature is formulated in this section by delivering proper and correct
service to the patients and make them feel better (Rosenberg, 2010).
There are number of legal impact that is proposed on health care services that also
include several types of risks that must be faced by organisation.
4.3 Strategies which helps to work with challenging behaviours relate to the diseases in the case
study
From the above discussion it has been observed that there are several challenging
behaviours which is present and hence must be develop important strategies to overcome it in
proper manner. Health and social care system must face all these challenges by taking effective
discussion in order to develop it at sustainable level. Some of the strategies are described below
which can be framed to solve all the barriers and challenges:
 Clear and transparent goals: It is required by the health care organisation to frame clear
targets and path so that steps are constructed properly. Formation of clear goals helps in
setting up of standard and making policies and procedures to achieve it in set time.
 Effective communication system: this strategy is very much essential in which patients
must be communicated with correct and proper message so that they could able to
communicate in proper way and final tasks could be accomplished in set time. It must be
carried in effective way so that health relationship could be constructed between
practitioners and patient through developing their learning ability (Sekaran and Bougie,
2016).
 Proper management: It is also very much essential in which organisation have to
formulate corrective steps and actions of that proper management could be achieved. As
there are number of training and development needs that has trio be imparted to them
staff member so that they could supply with best of their service to the patient by solving

their problem and curing disease in effective manner. This is the duty of organisation to
frame such rules and norms that aid them for proper management of whole structure.
CONCLUSION
From the above prepared report, it has been concluded that it is very much essential to

There are different type of disease like related to physical, mental and show symptoms according
therefore it is essential to examine the specific need and then take effective decision accordingly.

issues and problems could be met out efficiently. Apart from it, several strategies are also framed
that results in overcoming the challenging behaviour that is faced by health care sector.
